In Short – The bright space is lit by colorful jeweled chandeliers and features rustic arches above prints of Pamplona. The Valencian chef is inspired by the foods of all 17 Spanish regions. Choices extend from paella and gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic oil), to tortillas Espanola and corbero a la segoviana (roasted lamb). The full menu is served at the granite bar, where Spanish sherries and wines, such as Oloroso and Rioja, are poured.

  1. mediocre food, dull atmosphere
  2. Great food, good service and nice decor.
  3. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant.
  4. Place: good atmosphere: shadow cast tables, two bars, awkward winterized entrance, mid-block Flatiron location; no coat check.
  5. Located on a sleepy street in flatiron (sister location is down on bowery), this small and intimate bar features a terrific happy hour (2-for-1) and great spanish wines.
  6. The restaurant itself if gorgeous, beautiful art and design, my boyfriend and i loved the atmosphere.
  7. wonderful food, great ambience, amazing food
  8. My friends (maybe 20 people) have come here after work for Sala's so-called "happy" hour several times, because of its central location, but now unanimously agree that Sala is the worst bar weve encountered in 5 years of hanging out in Manhattan.
  9. Sala One Nine isn't the most authentic Spanish cuisine you can find in the city but it's still good and the atmosphere is as alluring as the food.
  10. The decor is dark and sexy and the food is simply amazing!

  1. Summary: If you go, expect reliable slightly above average food for the price; and definitely eat at the bar or go when the staff is less taxed -- they seem not to be the cream of the crop here and need to be unlittered by needy customers to really provid
  2. definitely recommend the fried apple dessert.
  3. Our $9 wine tasted like Carlo Rossi, the goat cheese app like the fryer it was made in, our mussels were raw and the molten chocolate cake was the worst I've had!
  4. We ended up ordering extra tapas and dessert which were delicious but my favorite is their awesome sangria.
  5. As soon as we finished our delicious desert our check was placed on the table.

  1. Our latest outing involved a perfect example: the overworked buser dumped dirty placeware, whilst cleaning, on the back of my friend in the tight dining area and didn't apologize (stunning); when the server was told, we received only a curt "sorry" follow
  2. Great food, good service and nice decor.
  3. For a more low key experince with great Sangrias, tapas, and good service, check out Sala on Bowery.
  4. Summary: If you go, expect reliable slightly above average food for the price; and definitely eat at the bar or go when the staff is less taxed -- they seem not to be the cream of the crop here and need to be unlittered by needy customers to really provid
  5. The bartenders are unfailingly rude, forgetful, apathetic, and will undoubtedly overcharge you and try to get away with this.
  6. only would recommend Sala One Nine if you prefer a crowded scene with rude service and sucky happy hour.
  7. The very friendly reservationist mistakenly thought that there was space open for us, and told me she'd call back to confirm.
  8. However, table service was, frankly, terrible on both occasions.
  9. the staff is knowledgeable and very friendly.
  10. The service is absolutely terrible.
  11. The staff was attentive & helpful with suggestions.
  12. The food was delicious and the waitress was great!
  13. The dates are the best, as the friendly staff will always let you know.
  14. The service was wonderful and they were so pleasant.

  16. My friends (maybe 20 people) have come here after work for Sala's so-called "happy" hour several times, because of its central location, but now unanimously agree that Sala is the worst bar weve encountered in 5 years of hanging out in Manhattan.
  17. Service was okay, a little disappointed by the unfriendly wait staff, host was very nice (he might have been the manager though).
  18. The attitude is always friendly if maybe a little more posh at night, but that's to be expected.
  19. It seems Sala likes to hire presumably cheap bus labor providing very awkwardly busing service while the wait staff is therefore theoretically less burdened yet thet latter still remains inattentive and aloof.
  20. Had no reservation but we got to take over the bar section and the waitress/waiters were great.
  21. However, the restaurant lost our reservation and although it was early and the place was still fairly empy, the host was extremely rude & obnoxious about the terms under which he would accomodate our party.
  22. -our waiter was nice but one of the hostesses/waitress was VERY, VERY RUDE.
  23. They were super busy and needed to ask for our table after we finished dining, but the hostess felt so bad to move us that she bought us another pitcher!
  24. Until they hire some decent help (people who can talk and add two numbers together), you're gonna get screwed.
  25. Good bar, good venue, but sub-par table service

Sala is really one of the best hide-away bars in the city. Located on a sleepy street in flatiron (sister location is down on bowery), this small and intimate bar features a terrific happy hour (2-for-1) and great spanish wines. I have yet to try a tapa I didn't love.

Food was great! Fried Goat Cheese was A+ along with the garlic shrimp.Red Sangria was very delicious. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant. A lot of group dinners were happening mixed with a few couples. Downstairs bar area very nice, but not a lot of people for a Friday night. Service was okay, a little disappointed by the unfriendly wait staff, host was very nice (he might have been the manager though).

  • Pros: Ambience, Great for large parties, Food, and Sangria

Perfect Experience

by tomrady75 at Citysearch

This was one of those evening that I have wanted to write about everyday, but felt the need to make it so detailed and so descriptive that I have not gotten to it yet.

It was honestly one of the top 10 dining experiences I have had in NY. The food, the service, the wine. It was all perfect. I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

  • Pros: ambiance,food,service
  • Cons: crowded

delish white sangria!

by Slupe at Citysearch

Felt the need to send another positive review since someone panned it so bad. Ate here last Thursday and thought it was fabulous! Had the white sangria- YUM! First sangria I have ever had in a restaurant that didn't taste like a pitcher of fruit juice. It actually tasted like SANGRIA! And maybe the previous reviewer had a bad batch, because the goat cheese apps were terrific when we had them! Same goes for the bacon wrapped dates, and the soup of the day- an amazing white gazpacho with almonds. They were super busy and needed to ask for our table after we finished dining, but the hostess felt so bad to move us that she bought us another pitcher! I highly recommend this place and will certainly return myself...
