A place to sit and sip. Maribelle is wonderful- for their Cacao Bar and Aztec Hot chocolate . The place itself is magical, like a chocolate fantasia . I had the feeling of having left New York far behind . I would never buy their chocolate - there are much more interesting chocolatiers out there . I would never go for brunch , any more than I'd order steak at an oyster house . However , if you are willing to be transported back to 1950's New York , while having the best hot chocolate ever , if you are wiling to have just that and possibly some petit fours - this is a special place . It is a timeless slice of old New York, preserved. I believe that if Heloise had ever needed to leave the Palace Hotel- she would have gone to Maribelle. Put down your expectations and comparisons and fall in love again with the romance of the city.

Worst. Service. Ever.. We had Sunday brunch at the Cacao Bar at MarieBelle. The hot chocolate was good. Other than that, I have nothing positive to say about this place.

The service was slow, careless and totally indifferent. After a ridiculously long wait, we finally received one item from our order. After an additional long wait, we realized that the server had completely forgotten about the rest of our order. With *repeated* reminders and more waiting, we finally received the rest of our order, but no apology for the long wait or poor service.

The food definitely wasn't worth the wait. The crepes were small, unexceptional and overpriced. Tribeca Whole Foods has much larger, tastier crepes for less than half the price. I definitely cannot recommend this cafe.

decent chocolates. I thought Mariebelle's was decent, but nothing beats Chocolate Bar for the best chocolate in the city.

overrated, overpriced, poor quality chocolate with plenty of attitude. Of the chocolate shops in SoHo, Kee's, Divaliscious, Vosges, Jaques Torres and Mariebelle's, Mariebelle's is without a doubt the most overpriced and less than mediocre shop. The shop is beautiful. The attitude and the undeserved pretension is plentiful. The designs on each chocolate is a cocoa butter decal that has been most sloppily slapped on each bon-bon. Some of the ganache flavors are inventive but the base chocolate that claims to be a single origin Colombian bean is just not very good. Exceedingly poor quality and grotesquely over-priced at 2.50 per piece. Look in the window but skip this shop and head over to Kee's just two blocks away on Thompson. Far better quality without the hassle of being judged by the staff at Mariebell's

Pure Magic in New York. Making my way about Soho, checking out what is new and old I stop. I gaze through the window. What is this? It looks so interesting. Yes, they have food. Entering this establishment, I am immediately transported into another world. Old New York, artfully mixed with Paris. I wander to the back, past the beautifully packaged chocolates. I find myself in a tiny, private space. I feel as if I am in an old faded post card. The girl next to me with the nose ring is assurance that I haven't stepped through a looking glass. All the hustle and bustle of New York quickly fades away. I am greeted by a lovely girl with an accent. Hot Coca? But of course! I order the American style with cream. I've had hot cocoa in Paris at Angelina's and here at Max Brenner's, both great, but no comparison to this. Thick, creamy, supper rich dark chocolate. Out of this world! I order the lunch too, salmon crepe. Pillowy light crepe with a slightly sweet salmon. Delicate and delicious. Worth the wait and disjointed service. I can not say enough about MarieBelle's. A Magical place that is all too rare in New York anymore. 5 Stars!

what a waste. these chocolates are way overrated.. so many better opportunities in ny. I'd go anywhere but here. For some down home south american crizap

Great place for chocolate.. The place has great crepes and chocolate. It is a bit cramped but still worth the time. Definetly try the spicy hot chocolate.

19 Century Europe In New York. As soon as you walk into this best secret place in the city the aroma of the freshly brewed chocolate beverage calls you in and in and all of the sudden you are transported back in time, beautiful and fun chocolates displayed like jewels in antique cases and boxed in georgeous packages. My experience ended at what they called The Cacao Bar where you can relax and drink the Aztec Hot Chocolate which I think is the darkest richest and therefore most delicious hot chocolate I ever had.
