Not Going Back ANNNNNY Time Soon!. I have eaten at Etcetera Etcetera before, and it was a fine and pleasant experience, nothing that is totally memorable. However last weekend I went to a private party in the upstairs area, and they were charging $11 for a cocktail and in verrrry small print, it said "$1 for gratuity added in", and of course no one could see this, so there was a tip bucket there for the bartender to make more money! Then, something strange happened, a stink bomb or pepper spray or something went off, suddenly everyone at the party was coughing, and we all ran downstairs immediately. Eyes were watering, people were hacking up their lungs. It was horrible! Not only did I feel bad for the party's host, but I was incredibly distraught when the manager said he was sorry, he didn't know what happened, and for us to have a nice night. Not good if you ask me, I think he should have offered us a round or drinks or done something to at least compensate us for the horrible experience. He was rude and unforgiving, and I know that I don't plan on going there ever again! Bitter, table for 1!
best sphaghetti in the city. My friend and I dined at this elegant restaurant before we went to see Finian’s Rainbow at St. James Theatre. I ordered the basil spaghetti with jumbo lump crab meat and my friend ordered risotto. We both loved the foods very much. The texture of the homemade basil spaghetti was great. We will come back again soon!
nothing special. the wine menu is very good, but the food is only OK. starters and pastas was fine. Nothing special. The service is unattentive and poorly-timed. Food comes out too fast, and empty glasses sit empty for too long. Interesting, but it needs work.
Great Food. We came to this restaurant bc my mother had a 7:00pm show in the area. The service was spot on and the food was terrific. I had the lasagna and it was TERRIFIC. My mother and her friend had the fish which they both enjoyed and my sister had the short ribs which were also very good (although i think that the lasagna was the best dish at the table) Good service, good food, and really convenient to the theater. Definitely reccommend this restaurant.
fresh quality and excellent presentation.
The food def lives up to its reputation. We ordered the pre-fix menu and it was excellent! I totally recommend it. Fresh quality and excellent presentation. I was disappointed in the dessert. It just wasn't that great.
Service is impeccable and right on point. The space is romantic and nice however very cramped
great for a group dining!. a group of 12 had a surprise bithday party last weekend and it was absolutely fantastic! they reserved a private space for us upstairs, which was beautifully decorated. the service was awesome and the food just as wonderful. the waiters were extremely attentive and everyone was happy!
Great Place for Bites Pre-Theatre!. This is a great place to grab "Bar Bites" pre theatre! The price is right and the goat cheese stuffed mushrooms, Italian cheese plate and wine list are fabulous!
Great food, nice atmosphere, crazy-long wait!. Went with 2 other ladies on a wednesday night. Made reservations about a week in advance for 6:30. They got there just before 6:30 and we're asked if they had a show to go to, which they said no. I got there about 10 mins. after and they were still waiting. Seriously, they were only seating people who had a show, regardless of when their reservation was for. So we sat and watched people have dinner. Until 7:15 when we were FINALLY seated. I don't recall an apology, but I would think complimentary drinks or an app would have been the appropriate guesture for our troubles waiting in the corner of the restaurant for 45 minutes! Anyway, I had the Prix Fixe with veggie souffle and cheese fondue (very tasty!) and the ricotta ravioli with tomatoes and basil (exceptionally delish!) and sorbet for dessert (average). Friends had salads and appetizer pastat dishes which they said was good, but I didn't taste it. It's a cute restaurant with nice atmosphere and good-priced menu (I think you can make this place moderately priced or expensive). I probably wouldn't come back just based on the wait, because I'm sure there are other restuarants with just as good food in the area that won't keep you waiting because you're not the typical theater-goer, but rather just someone who wants to eat when they make a reservation to!
REAL Italian food - midtown Manhattan, theatre district restaurant. Etcetera Etcetera is a true mid-town, theatre district gem - great not just for REAL Italian food before the theatre, but as a fantastic post-theatre destination as well. Consistently fresh, well prepared dishes...knowledgeable, friendly staff. Both combine to make out-of-towners and regulars, like myself, feel like they are right at home. By the way, you HAVE to try to the outstanding chickpea and potato gnocchi with oxtail ragout. Check it out!
Best place ever!!!!!!!!. Definitely the best restaurant in Manhattan!!!! Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. I spend an hour on the train from westchester just to eat my favourite risotto with black truffles!!!!! Love this place!!!
