Tips for Running Paws

I could not recommend this service more. I very very thankfully found Running Paws' puppy care service (Puppy Paws) right after I my boyfriend and I got our brand new little one and they have been an absolute godsend. We both work long hours and aren't able to get home in the middle of the day to spend time with our very active Aussie shepherd pup, much as we'd love to. Puppy Paws were the very next best thing to being able to be there ourselves. Probably even better in fact, since our puppy companion (Brad) not only visited her twice a day and provided us with full write-ups, but also helped us to train her to stay, lay down and walk well on her leash (this being our first dog, we were a little lost as to where to begin with training). The main office has also been incredibly communicative, responsive and all around a pleasure to work with. Even in the midst of Hurricane Sandy, they did everything they could to provide service, while a vast majority of Manhattan and Brooklyn were completely shut down. Getting a puppy is a wonderful and also wildly life-changing thing and I don't think we could have made it through these crucial first months without the help of Brad and the Puppy Paws team.

I called to get their help with contacting the Manhatten shelter, as we were trying to save a ferret from being put down, and the guy was not very nice.. like I inconvenienced him. The only reason I called is because when I looked up the shelter on google maps, it showed an apartment complex with two people in green shirts with quite a few dogs in hand. I figured it was a dog walking business and if they are in that area, maybe they could help me.. He answered the phone thinking it was a client emergency.. well, I called the number on their site... sorry, Im not currently a client, and after the response I got from you people, I dont think I will be.. I dont like snobbery.. or people who treat me (when I am nice to them) like Im some big inconvenience.. maybe pets should not be your forte.. regardless of what specific type you deal with. This was to help save an animal from being put down.. I wouldnt suggest them. however I found a place that was more then happy to help.. Biscuits & Bath... very sweet.. which tells me they would be with my dog. they get my vote.

I have been using Running Paws for over seven years, and have had consistently excellent service and communication from the runner(s) and management. Each runner has treated my dogs with the utmost care, good humor and affection. On a couple of occasions when one of the dogs was acting slightly out of character, I immediately received an email or phone call. I highly recommend this wonderful service!

Best place to go to!. I recently moved to the area and I wanted to do my research before taking my lab to a doggie daycare. I went to about 4 different daycares in the neighborhood and I must say that Running Paws beats them all! They have the largest play area I've seen where the dogs aren't bunched up together and have plenty of room to run and play. They even have balls for them to chase around! Something that other daycares lacked in order to prevent "aggression", which tells me they must not be screening their dogs very well. The staff was also very helpful when it came to helping me figure out which package was best suited for my dog, and did not automatically try to push for the most expensive one. My lab is already becoming a weekly regular and seems to absolutely love the place. I'd recommend Running Paws to anyone that wants to take their pooch to a safe, clean and loving environment!

My Dog's Favorite Place on Earth!. I usually don't write reviews but as I was surfing the net and wanted to see what people were saying about our dog daycare Running Paws.

I was really taken back by the negative review "Good on Paper, not so much in Practice". The so called potential client has really painted a bad picture of a wonderful establishment.

We have been using Running Paws for our two French Bullldogs for almost a year now and have nothing but a positive experience with the staff. Plus, I meet other dog owners in the park who use them as well and love them just as much as me.

Good on paper, not so much in practice.. I was very disappointed in this place. Reading all the positive reviews I was looking forward to checking it out in person. I was initially pleased as the place was VERY clean in comparison to other daycares. However that is as far as I'd go when saying anything positive about this place.

Right away I noticed the dogs were being soaked with water for no apparent reason other than barking. I thought this was a place for them to have fun and act like...dogs. Second, I was given bland answers to my questions. Not even sure I was speaking with the right person as he didn't seem very knowledgeable to begin with, unfortunately there didn't seem to be anyone else I could redirect my concerns to. Lastly, what really turned me off was the yelling I kept hearing. The workers there do not seem to genuinely care about the animals they work with and treat them as an annoyance. I was absolutely appalled by this behavior and would not recommend that anyone bring their beloved dog there.

Great for athletic dogs. We have a very athletic 6 year old Aussie cattle dog/Staff terrier mix rescue. She has almost limitless energy, and without sufficient exercise, she's difficult to manage and enjoy socially.

My partner likes to run, but can only take her 1-2 days a week, and I had been searching for a more athletic dog care service for a while. When I found Running Paws, I was apprehensive that they could keep a schedule and give Roxie (our pup) the workout she needs.

They were super professional, and our runner was awesome. They've been great to work with, and have helped Roxie get the exercise she needs. I recommend them all the time to folks that need more exercise, and really like working with them.

Fun & Safe Place!. I have been a monthly client for almost a year now at Running Paws (daycare), we use them 5-6 times a week. My dog absolutely loves it and sometimes does not want to leave when we pick her up at night (which I admit makes me feel a little bad). I read the review about the staff using pine sol and we just have never had that experience with them. When I pick up my dog at night I see them cleaning intensely but I never have smelled pine sol (and I know that smell very well because I dislike it). My husband and I appreciate how clean they keep their facility and would recommend it very highly.

They had me running alright!. I would advice everyone to steer clear of this place!

It was to my horror when I discovered they use PineSol to clean the place. You would think that having a business dealing with animals one would be well aware, or at least attempt to educate themselves, about the the dangers certain chemicals pose to them. PineSol fumes are highly toxic to dogs, there is even a warning label stating it is hazardous to domestic animals!! I pointed this out and I was simply told that they use a miniscule amount and therefore it was okay. It most certainly isn't, the dogs are inside a room where the fumes don't get aired out and they are just sitting there breathing it. Not to mention that when in the lobby I was still able to smell the strong fumes.

I will be taking my pup to a different daycare where the dogs' health and safety are a top priority.

Awesome everything. We moved to Manhattan about 2 years ago and needed a dog walker. I own a Great Dane who is extremely social and sensitive, and I knew I needed someone who would give her the personal attention she needs, more so than the physical. I found running paws and decided to take a chance and meet them. The turn around time was extremely fast, the owner came to meet me the very next day and took her for a run. She was in-and she had a great time.

My dog has had two runners since we started-- Katie for awhile in the beginning until she moved (she was nothing short of awesome), and now Phil. Words cannot describe how much my dog loves Phil! Once in awhile we run into him on the street and she recognizes him before me.....They always leave thorough notes and once in awhile if shes not feeling well or gets a cut somewhere (common with her) he calls me right away. I have also used their petsitting services and again--they go above and beyond. I got stuck due to the blizzard over Christmas and the pet sitter Lee stayed an entire extra week with my dog NO complaints or issues. I offered to have the vet watch her and Lee thought she would do better staying with him (he was right because I never thought I would be stuck an entire 7 days!). I did use their boarding once which was great--clean, smelled normal, and I always saw someone with the dogs. There only reason we havn't gone more is with her health problems she's developed she is on limited activity and doggie daycare/boarding is too much for her.

I have recommended this service to a co-worker who is also very happy, and I plan to continue recommending!

Thank you Running Paws for taking such great care of my dog! This truly is a one of a kind business.....
