“Whether it is day care, boarding or grooming, we have found their extensive services to greatly outperform other dog care facilities we have used in New York.”
“Loved it, great place to send your dog overnight or just for the day!”
“Our little dog is always happy to see his runner (they hire great people), and he comes home from his sessions well-exercised and content.”
“Their price was very reasonable.”
“Fortunately, the runners high only lasts a few minutes, then he is ready for a good long nap.”
Running Paws.
My dog Perci, loves his runner from Running Paws; everyday he looks forward to his mid-day outing, he even has now another dog as a friend. I started using Running Paws almost 3 1/2 years ago and the difference in Perci's temperament is great. Like any great runner, after a great work out, Perci is ready for a long nap in the afternoon.
Dogs, no matter what size they are, enjoy being outdoors and using their natural gift of running. Perci is now 7 years old, but has the energy of a puppy when it comes to running. Thank you Running Paws for a great experience for my little dog.
Like a part of the family.
I live and work on the UES. My dog is an adopted 80lb. Great Pyrenees mix. He has been attending Running Paws since I adopted him one year ago. I cannot fully express the positivity of the experience we have had. The staff have all been extremely friendly and receptive. Each one (I do mean each one) of them has shown great affection for my dog and have gone above and beyond. Whether it was the need for a walk home because I was stuck at work or to come to my apartment to pick him up because he wouldn't let anyone else through the door, they have always done whatever they could to accommodate. My dog enjoys it so much that anytime we begin to walk east from my apartment, he gets excited because he thinks he's going to Running Paws. From a care standpoint, I also have found them to be above reproach. When I come to get him at the end of the day, he is very tired. However, one look at the activity of the dogs (which is easily visible when you enter) and you know why. If there is a potential health issue, the club sends emails. My dog has stayed overnight at Running Paws many times. I was happy to find that the dogs are NOT placed in kennels. They are given "cots" to sleep and a human sleeps in the same room. Though Running Paws is not cheap, it is competitive within the UES market and I have always felt that I have received care and service commensurate with the price. I love my dog very much and recommend Running Paws without reservation.
Pros: friendly staff who love dogs, walk home service, experience in caring for dogs
Cons: single location
Almost Perfect Staff. My dog has been going to this place since the holidays of 2009. The first several times I loved it. The staff was great with good rules in place. My dog liked it (she's easy to please). After not going for a few months we came back and found their new manager Kate is very rude. She rolled her eyes at my partner with me standing there and seemed utterly annoyed by our questions. I may be a little extreme with my dog, but the attitude was unnecessary. They lost our business. One person gave the place a different feel. We did not feel welcomed there.
A Wonderful Place!!.
They were so wonderful with my goldendoodle Baron! Baron started going to running paws when I was 7 months pregnant and I couldn't give him all the exercise he needed. From the first day, I could tell that this was an amazing place. It was clean, the staff were friendly and knowledgable. He came home happy and tired and was always excited to go back.
Once the baby came, the dog walker associated with running paws would pick him up in the morning for a little extra help!
We've also boarded Baron there a few times. Again, he comes home, healthy, happy and tired. I get a full report of how he was and if there were any issues.
I also think that Josh and Seth handle issues with dogs responsibly and diplomatically. All the dogs are temperament tested before they can stay at running paws, but Baron and another dog tried to go after each other one day. They immediately separated them and notified me of possible aggressive behavior (of course I was mortified), but they then recommended some actions to correct this and let me know that if it continued, I would need to have him work with a trainer before he could come back. Since it was an isolated incident, he didn't need to, but I appreciated that they took aggressive behavior seriously and worked to prevent any incidents with the dogs.
We've also used Jim the groomer there and he does a fabulous job on Baron! He's clearly patient with him and listens to me as to how I'd like him to look.
Overall, this place is an absolute godsend! I have no reservations about recommending this place to any dog lover!
Great with my Puppy!.
My yellow lab Bodhi has been using running paws since he was 10 weeks old. He started out in their puppy program and continued to get walks from Jerry twice a week. Twice a week Bodhi goes to the daycare facility. If I wasn't moving out of town I would continue there services indefinitely.
I have been delighted with the services from running paws. Jerry has been with Bodhi since he was just a little pup. He is very reliable and now walks several dogs in my building. The daycare is fantastic as well. Bodhi is very comfortable around all the other dogs at the daycare. The staff is friendly, safe, and Bodhi comes home and sleeps all night.
We have also started obedience training there with who's walking who which has been fantastic. It's really convenient to be able to get so many services for Bodhi all in one place.
Fantastic Dog Running Service!!!. This is a really terrific dog running service. They come to your apartment, pick-up the dog and run them in a safe, caring and loving manner. They are very reliable, flexible and were always there to help me out in a jam if I couldn't get to my dog in time. The runs are a terrific way to give city dogs the exercise they desperately need, and this service is A+++. Highly recommend to everyone.
Finally, someone who truly cares. Let me start by saying I have been looking for a new dog club for a few months now. I happened to be in the area and thought to stop in and check this place out. An elder gentlemen greeted me at the front desk and that was literally where his professionalism ended. I was a bit disappointed because the place looked awesome. He just seemed very preoccupied and too busy to gain a potential new client. I went home and decided to try to call in for some info. Matt, a different worker at Running Paws, spent almost 30 min on the phone with me, detailing all the benefits and particulars on the services offered and even invited me in to see the space again. He was so nice, professional, and most of all you can tell how much he truly cares about every dog in the place. When I went in, other club members were coming in and dropping off theirs dogs..Matt knew each owner and dog by name, and every dog went right to him for hugs and belly rubs! I was so impressed with him (and the cleanliness of the place) I decided to leave my dog there for one week. Upon picking him up, he was so happy, playfull and best of all CLEAN (Other places have sent him home smelling like a farm) He wasn't groomed, this is simply because Running Paws is extremely clean..period.. no urine smell or harsh chemicals AT ALL. Matt got on the floor and gave my little guy tons of hugs and kisses goodbye, He just adores Matt! The deal was sealed for me when, upon picking him up, Matt gave me a very detailed overview of his stay there, how he slept, ate, got along with other dogs, etc. This is HUGE because it shows the staff is paying attention to every single dog there, not just letting a free for all occur all day. I HIGHLY recommend this place and recommend asking for Matt's help. You will not be disappointed.
Running Paws has been great for my dog for six years!!!. When I adopted my dog 6 years ago, he was a super-energetic dog who suffered from separation anxiety. Although we gave him a lot of exercise in the morning and the evening, the vet recommended brisk exercise during the day. I found Running Paws, which was a relatively new company. My dog responded so positively to his midday runs and the separation anxiety eventually went away. The runners that have been with my dog throughout the years have been great. The company is exceptional at hiring trustworthy, dependable people who truly love dogs. I work from home sometimes and often see my dog when he returns -- he is tired and happy. And though he is a shy dog around men, he has loved nearly all his runners, male and female, as they have been very caring towards him. The runners also are very careful about anytime my dog doesn't seem right, or isn't feeling well, and points this out to me. He is now 9 years old, and has pretty much grown old with Running Paws. I am sad to say that next week is his last week with Running Paws, as we are moving to California. I can't stress enough what a great company this has been for dogcare, both daily runs as well as overnight stays, which we have done numerous times. I've heard lots of terrible stories about dogwalkers and there are many disreputable people out there who claim to care about your dog but really don't. With Running Paws, there is no need to worry about who's taking care of your dog, they are absolutely dependable.
Clean & Safe Environment.
After reading review below I felt compelled to at least share our experience with the Running Paws daycare. I'm sorry that happened to your dog and I hope he is doing much better! We have been a client for over a year and have always been extremely happy with them. We moved to NYC from Chicago where we've been sending our dog to daycare since she was 5 months old. When we moved we read great reviews about Running Paws and they have met our expectations. They always let us know if they think something is wrong and I would go as far as to say they might go even a little overboard but that's why I love them.
Just recently they heard our dog sneezing and they asked me to take her to the vet to make sure it was not Kennel Cough or Canine Influenza, fortunately for us it was just allergies. Additionally they sent out an informative email about Canine Influenza which I thought was such a responsible thing to do.
Keep it up Running Paws, we're lifelong members!!
