Not worth it!

This place is over rated and DEFINATELY over priced. The waitress was nice & friendly. My shrimp entree was really disappointing from the price to the portion size to the taste. It cost $22 and for that I got 5 shrimp & a side salad. The taste was blah! After my meal, I asked to speak with the manager. I felt I had to mention that I just had the most expensive shrimp of my life. The only thing I can recall the manager saying to me is well the shrimp are flown in from Panama. I won't be going to this place ever again. I'm gonna save my money and take a trip to Panama instead.
I love Azucar!

I live in Jersey City and if you want a great neighborhood place to listen to a great band Wed-Friday you've come to the right place. Azucar's owners are very nice and always welcoming to their customers. I gave a party at Azucar and everyone loved the food and the decor. The dining room part is very nice and intimate. I really, really love it here. It's always a great stand by when I don't want to cook because the food definitely tastes as if it came from your g-mom's kitchen. Go to Azucar, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The clientele is also nice. A taste of Cuba in Jersey City!! OH the Sangria is great too!!!
I also took a freind from the city (Manhattan) and every time she comes to visit me, she wants to go to Azucar!!!
- Pros: The food, Decor and THE FOOD!
- Cons: The new wait staff....

I recently visited this place. The first thing you should know is that there is no alcohol served at this establishment. So dinner was served with pineapple juice. You can BYOB. The food was ok but definitely nothing to write home about. I had the ropa vieja and was not impressed. I've had better cuban food and because I've had better, I can't recommend this place. If you haven't had really good Cuban food, you probably won't know the difference. The menu does not have much variety. I have dined at the Azucar in NYC (no relation) and the food was so incredibly fabulous that this place pales in comparison. I also think the food is overpriced. Would I go again? No. The truth is there are too many other places that serve exceptional cuban food for me to come back to a place that didn't do it for me.
- Pros: Area is nice, Ambience, Decor
- Cons: Parking, Food/Menu, Service

EXCEPTIONAL CUBAN FOOD AND SERVICE

This restaurant is unbelievable! The service is always friendly and courteous and the food is consistently delicious. Whoever says anything other than that is not Cuban and does not know what Cuban food should taste like in the first place!!! This restaurant DOES have a liquor license (there other spot in Edgewater did not) and they make the BEST mojitos in town!!!!
- Pros: Huge Portions, Live Music on Weekends, Validated Parking, Cigar Lounge!!!
