Isle Closed?.
Does anyone know what is going on at Isle - my favorite Thai restaurant?
The gate has been down for over 1 week and there is no sign or notice posted.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
UPDATE:
Phone # is now disconnected. A shame - a great restaurant that seemed to be doing good business. My guess is that is greedy landlord is somehow to blame. I know not all landlords are greedy - but MANY are. It will probably now be a Chase or Citibank. Great! Thanks!

Worst restaurant I've been to - food smelled like a wet dog.
The "food" actually smelled like a wet dog.
At first I thought I was just being sensitive, but after three bites of the worst Pad Thai I've ever tasted (I had no idea that it was even possible to mess up Pad Thai!). It was so bad I wanted to vomit for hours. I'm not one to ever return food and never have until today, but I wasn't about to pay for three bites of dog...so I quietly told my server, who asked me if I wanted to order something else. I smiled and just asked to just pay for my drink.
The server brought me my check and my drink was priced higher than on the menu. Apparently the menu they posted outside was the takeout menu.
When I confronted the manager and suggested that they post both menus in the window, he said, "just get out of here." Unbelievable. He did not once ask me why I returned a dish after 3 bites. Average Decor. Horrible service, Horrible food.

Great Home Style Thai Cooking at Reasonable Prices.
We were just walking by on a Saturday night (6 of us) on our way to Magnolia's (famous bakery the girls saw in .ex in the CIty) and we saw the restaurant. It caught our eye because we were craving Thai food. The hostess was super friendly when we walked in and told her we'd be back in a 1/2 hour for a table. Not a problem. She took our reservation right away. The food was excellent! 4 appetizers/4 main courses + noodles+rice for 6 people was more than plenty. The wine bottle was very good for $22. I'd definitley go there again the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Really delicious thai food; service is "meh".
We just moved into the neighborhood - we have about 15 Thai places in a 5 block radius. This is by far the best I've been to so far.
My basil soba noodles with chicken dish was incredibly flavorful with just the right amount of spice. My girlfriend's rama dish was savory with a nice flame-grilled taste to the chicken. This is the best thai food I've had in New York, with one exception - Sea in Brooklyn.
Aside from the food, I have a few quibbles. The decor is sleek, but seemed a bit shabby and run down. (Wild Ginger, two blocks away on Grove street, has a much nicer interior - but the food isn't as good.) The service was absent-minded, with the server having to apologize at one point for not putting our order in. But these things by no means ruined our meal. It was moderately priced and very satisfying. I'll definitely come back.

Wow Wow Wow - Excellent Thai, Beautiful Spot, Cheap!.
While enjoying an after-work brew at Blind Tiger, we wondered where to go for dinner. We spotted Isle across the street, and hey, since it's right there, checked out the menu.. which puzzled me. It looked like a nice place, but the prices? I wondered if I was looking at the lunch special menu - the prices were just too low! What was wrong with the place? But still, it looked like a nice spot, and the menu sounded good .. so what did we have to lose? In the end, my only gripe was there was nothing to gripe about - nothing to critique between bites - because everything was just amazing. The decor was contemporary but warm, harmonious, and felt authentic. The lighting was great. And the food? Divine! I had the crispy Tamarind Chicken and adored it. Tangy, not too sweet, with hardly any batter - just enough to give it a wonderfully light, crispy exterior. The portions were generous, the plum wine delightful, and we were just enchanted. Appetizers, drinks, and entrees for two cost all of $42. (with leftovers for lunch!)

best thai food i've had in manhattan.
Isle has the most amazing Massaman curry!!! This is the place I come to fulfill my thai food cravings and I highly recommend this place to all my friends. The volcanic chicken is also amazingly delicious. The green curry, pad thai, and basil stir fry are pretty decent too. I would recommend going during lunch when it's not as packed and they have a great lunch menu for a great price. Like other people have mentioned, it gets packed for dinner, and the servers tend to get a little forgetful/rude towards the end (slow on getting the check, etc.) but all worth it for the best massaman curry in manhattan.

Great!!!.
Many times I will go to a restaurant on vacation with sparkling reviews on here only to be sorely disappointed. This was not the case with Isle. Everything was perfect!! Delicious, affordable, delicious, authentic Thai food. I have to agree with an earlier reviewer that expressed disdain for Thai restaurants that are simply "chinese" restaurants with different names for the same old "chinese" dishes. Isle is a refreshing taste of Thai cuisine at suprisingly affordable prices.

Great Food, Friendly service and hip area..
Tasty and large portins. Lunch specials available. Great drinks. When the weather is nice the dinning area opens to the sidewalk.
