Delicious and Friendly.
My wife and I just dined here tonight. The service was friendly and fast. We had edamame, a BBQ Eel Miso Salad, and Kim Chee fried rice with Pork. The Eel salad was DELICIOUS. I cleaned my plate. The Kim Chee Fried Rice was full flavored and mildly spicy. We added pork for just $3 and it was sweet and spicy.
Total price with one soft drink was $32.50.
AMAZING FOOD AND AMAZING SANGRIA!!!!.
I'VE BEEN GOING TO CHINOS FOR A WHILE NOW, AND THE FOOD JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER. THEY RECENTLY CHANGED UP THE MENU, AND ITS EVEN BETTER. SO THE SANGRIA THEY HAVE IS TO DIE FOR, WHEN MY FRIENDS AND I GO IN WE GET A PITCHER OF IT AND IT IS WELL PRICED. THE SERVICE IS ALSO EXCELLENT. EVERYONE IS SO FRIENDLY. I USUALLY EAT AT THE BAR BECAUSE THE BARTENDERS ARE REALLY ON POINT AND FUN!
I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THIS RESTAURANT, FOR THE FOOD, SERVICE, ETC.!!!!!!
I NEVER KNEW GREAT FOOD WITH CHEAP PRICES EXISTED. WENT THERE FOR ONE OFM Y BEST FRIENDS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION, MY WAITER WAS SO COOL AND SO ON POINT... MY CALAMARI SALAD WAS SO DELICIOUS, SHRIMP VEGETABLE FRIED RICE IS SO DELICIOUS
Small Plates with a Big Price Tag & an even Bigger Attitude. I live close to Chino's and have eaten there before twice, for convenience and a decent atmosphere for a neighborhood restaurant in the 2 block radius. The food is okay--nothing special. Like others have commented, Asian tapas = great idea but is also an opportunity to charge higher prices. I decided to give it one more try--this was Friday night, after 9pm, and while the back of the restaurant was relatively full, the front half of the restaurant was empty except for one party of 4 and a completely empty bar. There were tons of empty tables - enough to seat 14 people. I asked for a table for two and the host told us that there were "no table for 2" and told us to "sit at the bar and eat," or we could "wait 20 minutes" for a table for 2 to open. I was really disappointed with the attitude and the lack of hospitality/courtesy that was demonstrated by the host. My friend and I decided to walk out and go to Joe's Diner a few doors down, where we were immediately seated in a table of our choice (which turned out to be a table for 6!) and treated with very friendly, quick service at bargain prices. I will never go back to Chino's again.
Just okay. I thought the idea of Asian tapas was interesting, but it just turns out to be an excuse to serve smaller plates for more money than at other good Asian restaurants. The quality of the food is okay-but nothing special. Service was fine, tables by the door are nice to sit at when the weather is nice (they open the windows). If you lower your expectations you'll enjoy yourself, but I won't be back.
chow fun? I sort of get it.. After reading some of these reviews, I went to Chino's with a friend and ordered the Chow Fun. It was exactly what others have been saying; too soft and greasy. However, there was something about it, that made me finish it. I think it was the truffle oil. Anyway, the overall experience was good, nothing special, I would go there more for drinks rather than dinner.
A Consistent Surprise.
Everything here is pretty good, some things are excellent. The rare miss--as some noted, chow fun can be overly soft and/or greasy. Spare ribs are okay but nothing special. Almost everythign else we've had has been really good and all is really cheap.
The setting is nothing special, nor is the service but if you want some Asian small plates in a bar-type setting, go for it.
Great Little Place!!!. Chino's has become my new regular Lunch spot after trying their awesome pork sandwhich and calamari salad. I've also had their Chow fun's which despite being a bit oily, are so delicious. The Lunch box deal where you can pick two for $10 including rice and an ice tea is one of the best luches in the area. Service was quick and friendly, and the decor is cozy and interesting
Disappointing. I have to give Chinos props for a great decor (cozy, interesting), good service, and an inventive menu...but I have to say my friend and I were highly disappointed with the food we ordered. Spareribs were good, but the Chow Fun was anything but, along with the Kim Chee fried rice. It seems like if you stay away from noodle/rice dishes, you should be safe. The chow fun was served in some sort of red broth, which made it soupy and the noodles soggy. On top of that it was particularly bland -- same for kim chee fried rice.
great food, stylish atmosphere, friendly service. I love Chino's! It's my favorite kind of place--small, intimate, cool well-thought out decor, really great food--but with no snotty attitude. Instead, attentive friendly service which creates such a warm vibe to the place. The roast pork bao bun is so fantastic, served with a hot mustard that balances the sweet pork without overwhelming it. Crackling calamari salad--fried calamari tossed with frisee greens--really yummy. A side of sticky rice and a ginger iced tea--all for 9.95 at lunch. A real bargain for such amazing food. Each bite a delight!
