“Having said that, they do take your number down and call you (allowing you to walk around and check out all the other UWS options), and the decor is actually quite nice.”
“They make a great lychee martini, among other fab drinks.”
“LOVE The curry chicken puffs, the soups are amazing, and so are the vegatable dumplings.”

“The great smell (of rice) inside the restaurant made us wait for a table.”
“The appetizers were alright and the service was great, but the entrees just didn't taste right so I don't really see any reason to go back to Land.”

“If you want amazingly authentic Thai food, with nice ambiance at a very affordable price, then stake your claim to Land.”
“The home delivery is very fast, comes HOT in 10-15 minutes and the service is great - they even keep your details on hand which saved the hassle of repeating your address 4 times in a foreign accent!”
Best Thai on the Upper West Side. I am a bit biased. The only two places that I go for Thai is Sripraphai in Queens and Amanpuri in Thailand, so when I found this place I was shocked at the quality. Yeh, I said it, I am cooler than you. This place is cozy, the staff is friendly and the food is excellent. Despite the occasional wait, it is worth visit.
They stink !!!.
The last 2 days we all have been smelling a horrible chemical fuel fumes coming from the alley that connects Land & 5 apartments buildings in the alley.
Yesterday when I came home I couldn't breathe in my bedroom & had to turn on 2 bionair filters (which helped a little).
This morning the smell waved into my bedroom & I looked outside my kitchen window .
Land was barbecuing a whole baby piglet on one of those pits where the piglets rolls around over the coals .
I went out there to complain.
But , they ignored me till a gentle man that lives above the restaurant complained too.
Him & his wife just had 2 week old babies .
Than they took the piglet inside b/c of him(the macho cook wouldn't listen to a woman).
Please , don't give part patronage to this restaurant .
Not ,only do they not care about their neighbors but have absolutely no care for the environment !!!
PS
I'll be posting the gruesome picture on the internet .
For those who know me ... & my love of animals .
It was a hard thing to look at and take a photo of that innocent piglet .
But , I felt that I had to put away my emotions & expose the horror I saw in my own home turf !!!
Thai Land. I had passed by here many times before I actually decided to dine here late on a rainy Sunday. Land is perfectly New York: Old World cuisine complemented by New World sleekness; unpretentious and yet still conscious of its Upper West Side location. Its slim dining room and dim lighting exuded a date vibe, though the New Age-y music was a little trite. Oh, and the food: they offer classics like pad see ew, which came lightly sauced and full of veggies, and pan-Asian dishes like lamb in curry. Dessert ended the meal on a high note: creamy and smooth taro root custard topped with pistachio ice cream, and a homemade heart-shaped Thai iced tea cookie. We also received very pleasant service, even as we were the last people in the restaurant and watched the kitchen staff finally sit down to its meal.
A+++MAZING THAI SERVICE AND FOOD.
Whenever my husband and I come to the city, we absolutely HAVE to eat at LAND. We dont' care that it is cramped and it is hard to get a seat because the food and service are great. You're never waiting FOREVER for your food and the ambience at night is quite lovely. We always get the Thai ice teas or some cocktail for drinks. I love the whole red snapper entre which is fried and served with an assortment of vegetables and rice. The noodles with beef are also very yummy!! Also, try the sample platter for an appetizer - the curry chicken puffs are delicious. There is sooooo much to choose on this menu, it is sure not to disappoint!!
True story -no BS - when I first went to LAND to eat, my husband and I were soooo impressed we went back the next night. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw another couple who were there the previous night also!! That alone should tell anyone that this place is definately a NYC keeper.
Small, narrow, but delicious. Land is a literally a skinny hallway. Although the restaurant is small and narrow, it was lively and vivacious when you got inside. The stylish dim lighting give it an alluring, seductive undertone. Definitely go for the Drunken Noodle With Chicken, which is only $9.
Kissing Land Good-bye. Land was one of the best Thai restaurants on the UWS, but it has now gotten too comfortable in its popularity (you can never get a seat at night) and it serves burnt and over-cooked rice and obviously pre-cooked stir-fry...take a look at the color of vegetables to see for yourself. It is a shame because there are not a lot of good thai restaurants to choose from in the West 80s. You might be better off with Gray's Papaya!
ThaiLAND!!!. Yes, it's a bad pun, but the food at Land is nothing short of spectacular. I have to say, it's the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand (and yes, I've been there). The food it authentic, and took me back to my days on Khao San Road. That reference is probably lost on you if haven't been to Thailand, but just take it from a "Thai food snob" as I've been called (really, I'm not - I just like good Thai food). Anyhow, if there's a drawback to Land, it's that the place is very small, they don't take reservations, and you might have to wait a bit. Having said that, they do take your number down and call you (allowing you to walk around and check out all the other UWS options), and the decor is actually quite nice. If you want amazingly authentic Thai food, with nice ambiance at a very affordable price, then stake your claim to Land...
Good food and Inexpensive.. We love this place. The service very nice. Food was amazing!!! Please try the red snapper and steak.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVEEEE LAND!. I wish it were one of those "secret" spots that no one knew about, unfortunately this is possibly the hottest chill restaurant on the UWS! Though you may need to put your name on the list and go to the Dead Poet next door for 20 or 30 minutes, it's all worth it in the end- heck i LOVE the Dead Poet! Anyways, the food is incredible, especially for what you pay for! I LOVE The curry chicken puffs, the soups are amazing, and so are the vegatable dumplings. All of the entrees are fab including the duck and whole snapper, don't forget to try the noodles! Also, the pad thai is great, but nothing special so thai lovers, VENTURE! They make a great lychee martini, among other fab drinks. I have never ordered from Land so I can't speak for the delivery service but the service in the restaurant is all about smiles! I can't wait to come back next week! Also, ask for the dollar-off drink tokens when you wait, good for The Dead Poet! The music is never too loud, though just perfect and the lighting is very hip (though not too dark). BRAVO!
One of the best Thai places on the UWS. The food here is delicious!! One of the best places in the city. Their Thai Ice Tea is great and comes in a big mug. Try the Salmon rice, pad thai, and any of the curry dishes. Ambience is also great. The only cons are cramped tables (they have to move tables just so you can get into your seat) and a small menu.
