“The spa itself is extremely clean and tranquil, creating a comfortable environment pre treatment.”
“My treatment started with a hot foot soak, which smelled alot like eucalyptus (which was great for me cause I felt I was coming down with a cold) and I had a liquid yoga tea which was delicious.”
“opted not to take advantage of the cool shower system in the locker room, cause the massage balm smelled so delicious, then I found out they sold the stuff out front.”
“Clean, relaxing and great service with a smile, this place is amazing after a long week this is definitely the place to go and get away.”
“will never go back to Spa Hydra if they feel this is an acceptable practice.”
“have been visiting this spa since the day it opened and I am always greeted with warm smiles from the entire staff.”
“The massages are consistantly fantastic, and truly not that expensive if you compare other spas in the city.”
“Ana is pleasant and sweet and has given me the best manicures I've had in a long time (.”
Outrageous!!!!!!. I am sooooo outraged!!!! These people deserve a negative five rating! I bought a gift sertificate for my husband as a Christmas gift and paid a good amount of money. When he called in January to make an appointment and redeem his spa package, noone answered the phone and then I found that ridiculous message on their website that they are closed and the customers have to stay "tuned" for further info. Seems like they just took the money and ran!!! And I have been a loyal customer for many years. What kind of business practice is that? Is there some sort of a number to call and complain? I am so disgusted with them and want my money back!
IS THIS PLACE CLOSED?. Is this place closed?! I had an appointment yesterday, booked a week ago, for a facial with microdermabrasion. It took several tries to get an appointment, which made me think they were either extremely busy or had very limited staff. I am guessing the latter since I showed up 15 minutes early for my appointment only to find the place closed. I waited 30 minutes and no one every showed up. I called from outside the spa (it has a glass front so you can see into the full reception area) and left a message. No one ever called me back. I've been calling all morning and no one is answering, despite the fact that their voice message says they open at 10. I wasted a full hour of travel and waiting yesterday and I doubt I'll bother trying again. But if they have closed down, they should at least say so. If they are still open this is the worst behavior I've ever seen!
DOCTOR'S NOTE REQUIRED. I wanted to do something nice for my mom who has been helping me out with my 2 month old daughter ... so I picked up a deal from Groupon with Spa Hydra for a 45 min facial and 45 min massage. My husband made the appt with Spa Hydra and I took my mom to her appt. Upon arrival, I informed the manager Crystal and another receptionist that my mom has glaucoma and osteoporosis and will need her massage modified. They told me no problem and to simply jot it down on the form. They took my mother in, gave her a locker and she subsequently changed into her robe. During this time, I left her to go home and care for my daughter and told my mom I'd be back in 1.5 hrs to pick her up. When I got home, my husband (who took off work to watch my daughter so that I can drop my mom off) told me that Spa Hydra called and told him that they cannot provide the service for my mother without a doctor's note! Needless to say, I was livid! My mom has received numerous massage and facial in the past, and no one has ever required a doctor's note ... not for a massage and not especially for a facial! I am a nurse and I get why they may require a doctor's approval for a massage for a client with osteoporosis, but when asked why this was not mentioned when we made the appt (so that we can come to the appt prepared with a doctor's note) or before I left, they simply said that this was stated on their website. So obviously if you do not check their website, you wouldn't know that a DOCTOR'S NOTE is REQUIRED for a facial and massage! My mother was escorted back out to the reception area, waited for us to pick her up, and went home feeling stressed and humiliated! What was supposed to be a treat for her turned out to be a disaster! We lost not only time (ie, commute to and from home, my husband took off work), but we also prepaid for the service through Groupon so I really can't get my money back! Although my mom can use the voucher again once we acquire the required documentation, our experience with Spa Hydra was just so horrible that we don't foresee wanting to go back there again! So, before you book an appt with Spa Hydra, make sure you get a doctor's note so that you don't get turned away from them on the day of your appt!! I personally don't think it's worth getting a doctor's note ... most spa don't require them and are able to accommodate or modify the treatment based on your medical condiiton.
Great Manicure. I dont know nothing about massages, but I really know that Manicure was very good. Their attention was nice
extremely disappointed. I had a massage over the weekend that left me feeling like I visited a butcher shop. Normally, if I get a mediocre massage, I will just let it go and move on. On this occasion, I feel it is important for me to warn people who have back issues to stay away from this spa. I requested a sports massage and was reassured that my masseuse was fully trained. So, naturally, I expected a high quality massage. He wasn't sensitive or attentive to my pains. I flinched an awful lot throughout the massage which added to my stress level. Never have I felt more pain walking out of a massage than when I walked in. The soreness around my neck has been so unbearable today, that I had to pop a painkiller. I was also disappointed that he didn't focus on stretching and hit some pressure points to ease pain in my lower back (the real issue). My last sports massage was with Poi who worked magic. Unfortunately, she is no longer around, which will have me looking for another place. Never again will I subject myself to $124. worth of torture.
The perfect place to relax. I felt compelled to write this review after the most amazing spa facial ever. From the moment i stepped inside the door of this spa i felt like i was in a cocoon of comfort. The girls at the fron t desk were attentive and professional. I had a hydrating facial due to very dry skin. This treatment was decided upon in consoltation with my therapist crystal. This girl was thorough, sincere and really made me feel comfortable and reassured about my treatment. I never felt rushed and was entirely relaxed. The results following my facial were close to miraculous and i really feel that this was due to the attentive nature of crystal, who didn't treat me like just another client. I felt like i was the most important person in the world. I will definitely return to this spa. She really put me first, a rarity today. relaxing spa, knowledgable staff, great results. Thank you
Peace and tranquality in the city.. My idea of bliss is an afternoon in Hydra Day Spa, their facials and massages are something from "a bygone time", when Ladies had hours to pamper themselves. I received a facial from Crystal, boy what an experience! I snoozed for most of it and my skin felt and more importantly, looked like Peaches and Cream afterwards. She gave me great skincare advice, definately a day to be repeated.
Crystal is amazing.. I think it's possible that Crystal saved my skin. I went in with super dry skin that was breaking out (I was hideous, not to mention scared to go outside) and she was soo incredibly nice and assuring. She gave me the greatest facial and was so sensitive to what my skin was needing. I don't know what she did (I don't understand all that stuff-probably why my skin is messed up in the first place) but whatever it was, was pure magic. I walked out of there a different person. I will absolutely recommend her to all of my friends.
Not worth the money. I went to Crystal for three facials and was not impressed. I never found the people at the front desk to be friendly. I recommend Mario Badescu in Manhattan.
DO NOT GO TO CRYSTAL. I have seen Crystal multiple times for facials and waxing. Recently I went to see her and she failed to inform me prior to my appointment that her mouth was broken out in cold sores. She should not be working in a spa, touching people's faces and bodies, with open sores that are a serious virus. I will never go back to Spa Hydra if they feel this is an acceptable practice.
