“great burgers, fries and ice cream.”
“except the red wine I ordered was barely drinkable and the worst I have ever had (and trust me, I like the cheap stuff!)”
“The burgers weren't bad but the fries were awful, they tasted like bad frozen ore-ida fries.”
“personally find the meat to be a bit too oniony and "seasoned" tasting to get the highest marks, but it's still a great place to get a burger fix.”
“My whole suite travels from Columbia Univ. to Madison Square Park just for the burgers there-- so good and the staff is super sweet!”
“Not worth the ridiculous wait or fighting for a chair”
“The food is awesome and if you are waiting in line and someone asks you if the food is good enough to wait 45 minutes for.”
Believe the hype and get in line. Also, don't overlook the french fries dipped in salted caramel!

Best burger value in the city; get the double shack burger with cheese and be prepared for the awesomeness that follows; tender patties, melty cheese and an awesome bun!

Just. Simply. Amazing. Be sure to order up an extra side of Shack Sauce to dip your fries into. Trust me, you'll be happy you did.

Shake Shack is the In N Out of the East Coast. The line is reliably long and the burgers aren't large. But order two and their signature shake for a great meal. And if you have a dog with you, the fast food eatery also has a dog treat menu. Beat that West Coast.
Yes, the line is ridiculous, and no, the burger isn't better than Schnipper's around the corner. But oh! The custard! And the good news it that it has its own, much shorter line.

Same Shake Shack as anywhere, but this one comes with added ambiance of Madison Square Park -- perfect for low-fuss dates in summer.
Won't blow you away. I heard so much about Shake Shack before I moved to New York, and I've got to say, it's pretty good but not nearly as amazing as I was expecting, or as the long lines would have you believe. The burger is ok, but I prefer Corner Bistro's or Five Guys. If you do go to Shake Shack, double your order - it's not as filling as you would expect.
Worth The Wait. The burgers are awesome, don't let the line discourage you cause its worth the wait.
Really?. The burgers are great. Not the best, and definitely not worth the wait. If you happen to be passing by, and in the mood for a burger AND there is no line, then by all means, go for it. Otherwise walk on by.
Go to any Diner.
First - read the health dept. inspection -it's pretty horrific. Until they get that under control I won't eat there again. Cross-contamination... no hand-washing... etc It's here - read it.
The burgers here are good no doubt - but they're the same thing you'll get at any diner in the city - and any diner in any small town anywhere.. except that they grind their own burger mix (supposedly). But it's just a smashed-down quickly fried burger... if you only have an hour you might not make it back to work on time. Don't blame Shake Shack - they've hit a nerve - people longing for something real. But they can only serve so many people so fast... it's not their fault that New Yorkers are lemmings. I hope they're banking their money because the hype will not last - especially if they can't get the health dept. under control.
BUURRRger. I love this place but just the thought of standing 30-40 minutes outside in the upcoming winter scares me.. maybe I'll pay someone to stand in line for me ;)
Caution: Watch out for White BIT*CH at food handout counter..
Caution: Watch out for White BIT*CH at food handout counter.
I started going to shake shack regularly with my friends since I liked one of their concretes. When I went there this Sunday evening (5th sep) at 8:45pm on labor day weekend, they gave me a shake that I thought was not the one I had ordered.
When I told the girl at the counter that it was not what I ordered, she said "Once the food leaves the counter, we have no responsibility for it. We can't take it back." She was shouting and very rude. I'm not sure how I could have found out it was the wrong shake without tasting it.
I was shocked to say the least, even McDonald's has better service. There were other people waiting for their food who couldn't believe what they heard.
My turn to act: So, me and my friends spent the next 15 minutes telling everyone in the line what had just happened. About 5 people who had seen what had happened left in disgust.
To be fair, the girl did offer me a different shake later, but she did not apologize, and it was too late. I hope Shake Shack management takes notice.
Payback's a bit*ch, bit*ch!
What is wrong with you people?.
I heard all the hype about the shake shack.
A cheesy shake, the burger was absolutely nothing to write home about and the fries; I couldn't finish the fries.
You can stand in line for that dog food; I'll never go back.
Is it possible to give negative stars because there's no way they deserve even 1 star?
And how much are these people getting paid to write these fabulous reviews of this useless shed?
Top burger and shakes in town.
There is no secret that Shake Shack makes one of the top burgers in Manhattan. I consider it the East of In n Out Burger!
They also make some killing creamy and rich shakes. I just got their Chocolate Ice Cream last night and it was so smooth and rich! I was really surprised! They are not just good at burgers and shakes but ice cream!
The only drawback is you have to wait for an average of 30 minutes to get anything. Oh and possibly get some mosquito bites while in line or sitting down in the park. But it will be worth it :)
Awesome food. I love the food! The burgers are great! I love their shakes. I wish I lived there.
