Sangria and people watching on a Sunday afternoon. I promise you, you WILL fall in-love with the sangria! The food isn't "to die for" but it's pretty darn good. I think that one of the best things about this place (besides the sangria) is the view. I'm pretty sure that it's the only location with outdoor seating... excellent for people watching during a Sunday afternoon ;)

Brunch. I just have to say thank you! Sarabeth's is the reason the city is known for its food. I have had the pleasure of eating here and now I go back whenever I can. The service is fantastic it's an amazing location and the Hollandaise sauce is something to be remembered. I would recommend this eatery to anyone. Keep up the great work and thanks again.

What's the hype about?. We had a few friends visting from out of town, so we wanted to take them to a "NYC brunch". We had 12 people, so was looking for a place that took reservations, which Sarabeth's luckily did. I had heard a lot about Sarabeth's (and we pass by Sarabeth's on the West Side every Sunday, and there's always a ridiculous line), so was excited to try this place. We all got different foods, so I got to try a lot of dishes. Everything was good, especially the lobster roll and crabcake sandwich, but it wasn't amazing. I love lobster rolls, and I think it's hard to find a good restaurant that does a decent job of making them, so I would definitely go back for those, but i wouldn't go back specifically for brunch nor would I recommend it.

Complete DISSAPOINTMENT. This highly recommended restaurant fell well short of even decent. The staff was pleasant enough, however the breakfast menu tries to be too fancy and is limited in the number and types of items.

The smoked salmon and egg dish I had was by far the worst tasting meal I've had in NY. This is too bad, as others sure seem to like this place. It just wasn't for me.

Excellent Brunch Spot!. I had a fabulous dining experience at Sarabeth's with great atmoshphere, great service and excellent food. Although we were told the wait would be an hour, we were seated in less than 30 minutes. It was well worth the wait. The Red Omelette was perfect with the fluffiest egg whites ever (normally served with whole eggs), and the apple chicken sausage was the best. The Fruit Flowers drink was an awesome medley of breakfast juices- very refreshing. There were no naysayers out of our small party of four regarding the overall experience. Although a bit pricey for breakfast, it is within reason and most expected for the area. I would absolutely come back!

Very intimate restaurant, love it!. I ate at Sarabeth's two weeks ago. I must say I have absolutely no complaints. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. I ordered the mac and cheese with truffle which was six pieces of penne with goat cheese and truffle as the appetizer. As the main course, I had the filet mignon with caramelized onions with bacon, which was good also. It was the best thing!! The plate came out piping hot and it was full of flavor. I was sitting right across from Central Park, not far from Columbus Circle. The setting is very intimate, and dimly lit. The bar is small but just enough to impress a date. There is seating on the outside, if you like to people watch.

I really liked this place and I am definitely returning this week with my friend for lunch. I am looking forward to it.

Great Food, Great Location. This restaurant is great! First time I have been there and we got a great table by the window, across from CP. The food was good (a little overpriced but that's what you get for eating right off 5th) and the svc was also good. I would recommend it. I had a chicken caesar that was delicious and my girlfriend had a sandwich that looked great. Other people nearby had breakfast and that looked yummy as well!

Terrible service and not worth the price. Service: (1) Had to ask for bread 3-4 times; (2) never got water refills; (3) Took them about 20-25 minutes to bring the check and process the credit cards, and more (read below).

Also, we have a dog and wanted to sit outside. They told us that the dog had to be tied to the rail facing the street, not next to where we were seating. However, there was an old woman there, right by the entrance to the restaurant with a dog on her lap, while eating at her table. I assume that the old lady was rich and a regular client or a good tipper, and while I like to play by the rules, they should be the same for everyone. When I pointed out the other dog to the hostess, she lied and said that the old lady was about to leave and had the nerve to say that the rule was for dogs to be on the outer side of the rail. As expected, the old lady was not leaving at all, and was there for at least 30 minutes more.

Also, we were with a friend that doesn't eat pork for religious reasons. She ordered the lamb shank, which comes with beans, rosemary, etc., but it doesn't say on the menu that it comes with ham. It does come with ham. I think that in New York, where many Jewish, Muslims, and others don't eat pork, it should be clear on a menu whether a dish contains pork or not. The waitress was kind eanough to exchange the lamb shank for another dish. However, we were charged for the lamb shank, which was more expensive that what my friend ended up eating.

They also added 18% tip to the check. We were four and the menu only says that a tip will be added to parties of six or more. I thought that they liked playing by the rules!

Finally, if you sit outside, get ready for the "nice aroma" coming from the horses across the street.

Bottom lone: Go to Sarabeth only if you like snobish, overpriced restaurants with bad service!

Sarabeth -- the true Norma's. You can basically take all the good reviews that have mysteriously been written for Norma's and apply them to Sarabeth. Wheras Norma's has average diner food, an unspectacular ambience, rude staff and outrageous prices, Sarabeth is the real deal. I've been there many many times over the past several years, and it never disappointed. The food is outrageously good: And I mean outrageously good -- We often times make breakfast at home ourselves on Saturdays and Sarabeth's is basically the only breakfast that beats our own. The portions are huge, the staff is super friendly and the ambience -- well, it's right by Central Park -- really classy but at the same time cozy. There are cons: The wait is typically quite long if you don't get there really early (or on a weekday) and they certainly have premium pricing as well. But you get good value for it, so if you want to treat yourself or someone else for brunch, this is the place to go.
