Tre Dici

Owner

Right in the heart of Chelsea, Tre Dici is a vibrant and innovative spin on Italian cuisine. In an intimate, yet fabulously appointed space, Tre Dici accommodates casual diners to more elegant gatherings with curved walls, silver-gray leather banquettes, and earth toned onyx cocktail tables in the front. Chef Giuseppe Fanelli brings his experience from such high profile restaurants as Felidia, Rao's, Baldoria, and Union Pacific to create a menu that bursts with creativity. Signature dishes include grilled Maya shrimp with chick pea puree, brick oven pizzas, and hand rolled ricotta gnocchi with ground veal and fresh sage. Chef Fanelli's desserts include a decadent marscapone & buttermilk pannacotta and a 20 layer crepe cake with caramelized bananas.

The Scene
With its rose-colored marble bar, curving, blush-hued walls and towering gray leather banquettes, the restaurant feels like a furniture showroom from the "Miami Vice" era. Yet the young, techie types from surrounding high-rises see past the pink, preferring the roomy front lounge for friends and the quieter dining room for dates.

The Draw
Chef Giuseppe Fanelli draws on traditional Southern Italian flavors to create a seasonally driven menu that is irrefutably modern and compelling in its extremes. A perky carrot and tarragon vinaigrette brings a bit of flamboyance to an English pea and mint flan, while a subdued black truffle sauce dressing the "pinched" pea, asparagus and leek ravioli demonstrates sophisticated restraint. The brick oven is not only used to create comfort classics like crispy pizzas and baked chicken, but also the offbeat dessert "Fire and Ice," warmed berries and strudel with chilly fresh vanilla gelato.

came here with two friends and we had a great meal. nothing fancy and not the best service. it's a place you want to come and try but not a place you crave to come back to time and time again. one thing that i did like was the ravielli. everything else did not stand out. pricing was fair and portions were decent sized.

First of all, I love the atmosphere and the margaritas....but I had the best meal last night! I had an avocado soup that was indescribably delicious. It was recommended by the waiter and he was right. I had the lobster appetizer with it to make my meal and each bite was superb. What can I say....go and enjoy the food!

By far the best Italian I've had in the city. It didn't try to take advantage of the naivety of the average palate when regarding Italian dining. It's plates were fresh and innovative but considerate of its roots. The decor was just like the food - contemporary Italian. I had the Kobe ravioli which was a tad meager but left enough appetite for a flavorful Tiramisu. The wines seemed carefully chosen for optimal taste for the $. After all, thats what makes a NY meal pricey. To boot, the service was above average. Don't gamble on NY Italian by going here!
