Stone Creek Bar & Lounge

A Murray Hill bar and lounge- come drink and relax with friends.

What do you call a mature lounge in Murray Hill with patrons who don't wear baseball hats? A figment of your imagination? Stone Creek is the exception that might prove your sanity yet. Set on a quiet block off of the Third Avenue strip, Stone Creek could easily be the bar inside of Pottery Barn, if it had a bar. All the furniture is cool, comfy and clean; think "farmhouse chic." This is a great date place to share lobster mac-n-cheese and it's somewhere to unwind after work with a Belgian beer. Flat-screen TVs sometimes show rad surfing videos, dude and other times they feature mood-enhancing visuals. If that gets you in the mood, grab your date by the hand, head to a banquette in the backroom and let the drinks work their magic.

Editorial Review for Stone Creek Bar & Lounge – by Leah Hochbaum

In Short
This subterranean Murray Hill saloon boasts uptown style in earth tones. Small square tables are surrounded by sleek brown couches, where suited young professionals quaff Belgian and domestic beers while tasting typical plates from the bar menu--burgers, sandwiches, salads and small bites like calamari. A few flat-screen TVs play abstract visuals or surfing flicks while mirrors hung throughout allow for quick fixes, especially appreciated by the after-work singles.

Had my brithday party here on 7/26/08. Jon was easy to work with leading up to the event and the staff was amazing the night of. There were NO problems at all during the night... which if you ever had a party w/75 of your closest friends... there is always some sort of issue that pops up. The party went so well that 3 friends have asked for Jon's information so that they can hold their birthday events at the bar later in the year. Besides being a great spot to have a party... its also a wonderful neighborhood bar!

I had been to Stone Creek Bar & Lounge for a drink one night with friends, and since I liked the low key atmosphere and the space, I decided that I wanted to have my birthday party there. When I called the bar to inquire about the space, I was immediately put in touch with the manager, Jon Pirozzi (featured on the Citysearch video clip), with whom I discussed the party details with. Since the back room was already taken, Jon gave me the front of the bar with plush velvet couches and the area surrounding there. There was no charge or paperwork to sign...just a phone call...party planning can't get any easier than this. I did touch base with Jon closer to the party to let him know that I had about 60 people attending, and he assured me that none of my friends will have any problems getting into the bar. Jon was right. My friends got in with no problem. The bar manager for the night of my party, Anuka (sp?) and bouncer Eddie were very friendly, nice and accommodating. They even helped me put up my birthday banners on the walls and arranged the space so nicely for my party. My guests enjoyed the party very much--comfortable seating area, well-priced drinks, DJ that took requests, friendly bartenders and the fact that they can order really good food. Our party eventually took over the entire bar but it never got uncomfortably crowded, with just right amount of people. We ended up staying until they closed. BIG kudos to the staff at Stone Creek Bar & Lounge for a wonderful birthday party. We had a wonderful time. I'm sure that my friends will be planning their parties at the bar in the future!!! Thanks Stone Creek!!!

Pros: Friendly staff, space, atmosphere, food & drinks...everything

Cons: Honestly, none.
