Editorial Review for Bin 71 – by Leah Hochbaum
The Scene
This petite Upper West Side wine bar packs people between its exposed brick walls until they spill out onto the sidewalk. Strategically placed mirrors on the bottle-dotted walls make the place appear bigger than it is, but the lack of seating doesn't fool anyone--especially the ones standing all night. Nonetheless, folks chat up companions over clinking chilled glasses, and never take an interest in the large television tuned to sports.
The Draw
Oenophiles and those who like brushing up against them enjoy mingling in this microscopic milieu. The lucky few who grab a seat at the bar can partake of flavorsome fare like toasted Tuscan bread with nutella and smoked salmon crostini with red onions and tomatoes.

Insider Tips
What to DrinkBeer connoisseurs can taste a range of New England brews like Blue Point and Whale's Tail, as well as an oatmeal stout and a wheat beer.
What to EatTaste the plums poached in merlot and topped with vanilla ice cream. They're sinfully delicious.

My first & only time there my pocketbook was stolen. I was sitting at the bar and it was under a coat at my feet. According to some patrons there trying to help me locate it, it's been happening a lot there. The bartender couldn't have cared less and handed me a bill as I was leaving. I reminded her my wallet was in my stolen bag and she just shrugged. Luckily my friend who showed up to help me paid. And just last week a friend called to tell me it happened to the girl he was with so between me, the people that night who said they've been there when others had it happen and my friend last week, you'd think by now they'd install cameras or something but obviously no one there cares.
Cons: epidemic of stolen pocketbooks and bartenders don't care

I have been coming to this Bar since it opened years ago. The atmosphere is great, the food good for what they are trying to achieve, and the wine list is chosen wisely. But, the rude service is just unacceptable. The ownder also owns Barcibo close by- the manager is great, but again most of the females this guy employs to bait men are just rude. Rude.
Pros: Nice Wine Selection
Cons: Worst Service you will find on the UWS
