The Scene – A glittering chandelier is the centerpiece of the sleek, black-and-white room trimmed with striking ebony-painted beams and coal-colored velvet banquettes. Erudite locals and stylish Meatpacking nightlifers add intrigue to the largely mainstream crowd resulting in a casually classy atmosphere. – – The Food – The gutsy menu of refined Italian classics refuses to get lost in the crowd. Highly polished reinvention of familiar dishes--like lightly fried zucchini blossoms bursting with mozzarella, crisp baby artichokes highlighted with lemon, and meatballs…

GUSTO ristorante is probably my favorite restaurant in NY. We have gone there for several important celebrations and they have never let us down. Food, service, wine list everything is amazing, and the atmosphere is a great mix of friendly/special. I highly recommend the Octopus and the Dover Sol !!
- Pros: the best place in town
- Cons: nonne
An Amazing Italian Ristorante!
by AG Prodani at Citysearch
A friend recommended me this Italian restaurant and I took my boyfriend there last night. I have to say the food and service was spectacular! We started w a few drinks from a very friendly bartender(I had the barolo and its great!) and then moved to a romantic candle lit table in the front window of the restaurant. My boyfriend and I shared the octopus for a starter and its one of the best octopuses ive had in the city. Then we had the malfatti and halibut, also really good. The food, service, and atmosphere was all together excellent!

We went there on a Saturday night, and all courses were excellent. Before they could get our table ready they sat use down at the bar and had a wonderful time with Two very handsome Bartenders. We sat down at the Table and had a wonderful dinner. The Malffati with spinach and ricotta cheese was delicious, the Veal Chop was cooked perfectly, and the Banana tort was a nice way to finish. The waiter recommended to us a modestly-priced bottle of wine that turned out to be excellent I even wrote down the name of the bottle witch is Valdomo good wine. The atmosphere is fun and attractive, and the service was attentive and helpful. definitely recommend this place. it was and will remain an extremely great experience.
