The Scene
A glittering chandelier is the centerpiece of the sleek, black-and-white room trimmed with striking ebony-painted beams and coal-colored velvet banquettes. Erudite locals and stylish Meatpacking nightlifers add intrigue to the largely mainstream crowd resulting in a casually classy atmosphere.
The Food
The gutsy menu of refined Italian classics refuses to get lost in the crowd. Highly polished reinvention of familiar dishes--like lightly fried zucchini blossoms bursting with mozzarella, crisp baby artichokes highlighted with lemon, and meatballs dotted with pignoli nuts and raisins--makes each seem brand new. Plate-sized focaccia is a simple model of innovation, holding mild mozzarella, sweet tomatoes and salty olives. Fava beans sprinkled with fresh mint elevate the clean flavor of scallops and a gravity defying lightness causes even the flourless chocolate cake to seem downright pioneering. Italian-inspired crepes and eggs join the menu on Saturday and Sunday brunch.

What to Drink:
Try the prosecco cocktails--like the Fragola made with fresh muddled strawberries or the Classico, topped off with a sugar cube, bitters and lemon--for a festively fizzy aperitif.
