The Scene
This downtown gourmet pizza bar is far from the typical parlor. Crystal chandeliers, pearlescent walls, and vases of dry, twisting branches bring upscale elegance to the otherwise minimal space. The long, fluorescent-lit bar caters to single diners, while groups crowd the leather-backed banquettes and blonde wood tables. In the summer, financiers nab seats on the cobblestone street.

The Food

Contemporary Italian dishes match the restaurant's modern space. Starters include cheese samplers, salads and small plates, but it's the thin-crust pizza--in custom square pies at lunch and round specialties at dinner--that stands out. For a hearty creation, try the Toscana, topped with ribbons of prosciutto, chopped scallions and thick potato medallions. More traditionally bent entrees, such as creamy spinach and ricotta-stuffed shells, are delicate in a light marinara with chunks of tomato. For a twist, opt for the cannoli, a crisp waffle cone wrapped around thick whipped cream.

Great location on Stone St, this is consistently amazing pizza. Closest thing I can find to Lombardi's, which is my fav. Nice setting, friendly servers, cool vibe make this place a no brainer for anyone living in the neighborhood.

My wife and I stayed Downtown for the night and were informed that Adrienne's Pizza Bar was the place to go for great Italian. We walked in and were very excited to try the Pizza. We ordered the Antipasto to share and were very disappointed. The plate was ice cold and asked if the food were newly prepared we were told yes. Low and behold the plate was taken from the cooler and served to us. Disappointment has set in. The waiter was a YES man. Every question we asked the answer was yes, not an honest answer. The Pizza was OK, not as great as our recommendations. We will stick to some of the other traditional pizza haunts in NYC.

Live nearby and absolutely love Adrienne's. We've gone there several dozen times at this point, and have taken many of our visitors there. Everyone is always thoroughly impressed. A Long Island native pizza connoisseur dubbed it the best pepperoni pizza he'd ever had. You may have to wait awhile for delivery, but they're usually up-front about delays. We've never experienced any problems with the service there, and even if we had, I don't think it'd matter. It's that good. Old Fashioned Pepperoni.
