Editorial Review for BLT Prime – by Kara Zuaro

The Scene
A blasting '80s soundtrack and lively conversations color this bi-level space, framed by beige walls and dark wood. At the bar, grown-up frat guys and sorority girls flirt over classic cocktails with a twist. Behind them sits a carnivore's dream, a glass-walled dry-aging room, and a table piled with confections, like thickly iced strawberry shortcake and carrot cake. The upstairs dining area is as business-casual as the bustling ground-level seating room.

The Draw

Incredibly tender dry-aged beef, broiled at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit, calls in herds of businessmen like a siren song. The marbled and flavorful New York strip can be dressed up with a choice of nine sauces; the five-pepper American Kobe packs some heat; and a killer BLT sandwich is embellished with strips of skirt steak and foie gras. Skip the run-of-the-mill cold seafood platter, but savor the meltingly fresh swordfish steak, marinated in herbs and crusted with whole cumin and coriander seeds.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

Noisy groups in business suits dominate the space, making it the perfect place to celebrate a promotion--but not a key spot for a romantic dinner.

The Extras

Balance your beef with decadent sides--like impossibly creamy spinach, stellar stuffed mushroom caps, or tasty blue cheese tater tots.

What to Drink

If you're looking for a wine by the glass, try the well-balanced and fruity Belle Pente Pinot Noir ($13). Or try a specialty cocktail, like the margaritas spiked with tamarid juice.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

The food was really good, they had some weird things on the menu too- if you want to try something different. Their dinner rolls are very tasty. Service was perfect, wine A+, ambiance was really upscale, modern- it was trendy, but not cheap looking, and comfortable. I really enjoyed dinner there and will be back.

Pros: Great Steak

Cons: None

2 Star Rating: Below Average

Go to Del Frisco's, Morton's or Ruth Chris Steakhouse instead!! Found flies in the restaurant. I am embarassed that I took my in-laws.

Pros: popovers

Cons: price, cleanness, kobe steak
