The Scene – A blasting '80s soundtrack and lively conversations color this bi-level space, framed by beige walls and dark wood. At the bar, grown-up frat guys and sorority girls flirt over classic cocktails with a twist. Behind them sits a carnivore's dream, a glass-walled dry-aging room, and a table piled with confections, like thickly iced strawberry shortcake and carrot cake. The upstairs dining area is as business-casual as the bustling ground-level seating room. – – The Draw – Incredibly tender dry-aged beef, broiled at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit, calls in herds of…

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
Noisy groups in business suits dominate the space, making it the perfect place to celebrate a promotion--but not a key spot for a romantic dinner.
The Extras:
Balance your beef with decadent sides--like impossibly creamy spinach, stellar stuffed mushroom caps, or tasty blue cheese tater tots.
What to Drink:
If you're looking for a wine by the glass, try the well-balanced and fruity Belle Pente Pinot Noir ($13). Or try a specialty cocktail, like the margaritas spiked with tamarid juice.

  1. No complaints, casual atmosphere - great space.
  2. Love the new downtown location!
  3. Service was perfect, wine A+, ambiance was really upscale, modern- it was trendy, but not cheap looking, and comfortable.
  4. The atmosphere has a lot of potential but the too loud 80's music, paper menu's and a 25 foot plastic full wall menu were turn offs.
  5. The ambiance was so cool and comfortable.
  6. The dining room was comfortable and morden but the service continued to disappoint.
  7. Pretty pricey, but steak was really good, fancy decor, pleasant stuff, noisy and crowded atmosphere - TUNA TARTAR was really really good!
  8. Nice atmosphere and my one martini was very good HOWEVER, the food was bloody terrible.
  9. Great atmosphere and perfect staff - even telling me I had ordered too much.
  10. 1. good wine, knowledgable sommlier 2. nice ambiance 3. kind manager (who happenned to ask us how our meal was on our way out. He offered his card and asked us back, but we'll go elsewhere...) 4. good popovers (but not good enough to make up for the rest
  11. The atmosphere is perfect!
dessert
80.0% positive
  1. the wine steward could not recommend a wine from their list to accompany the desserts we selected.
  2. Not that it was neccesary, but we did have desert (and some desert wines) that were all fantastic.
  3. The tuna tartare appetizer and maple cheese cake dessert were both divine.
  4. We all shared dessert which was delicious.
  5. The crab cake was barely average, the bacon was tasty, but too salty to eat more than a couple of bites.

  1. Amazing steaks, very attentive service, the creamed corn with truffles was to die for, drinks were great!
  2. the wine steward could not recommend a wine from their list to accompany the desserts we selected.
  3. Great wine, great food, great jovial staff.
  4. will say though if you want an amazing steak it is worth the price, don't order any booze or wine and the bill will be much cheaper.
  5. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable and the bar scene is great on any given night.
  6. We had a great bottle of wine, reccomended by the sommellier (Tikal Malbec), who was not the least bit snooty and led us to just the right bottle of wine.
  7. Not that it was neccesary, but we did have desert (and some desert wines) that were all fantastic.
  8. 1. good wine, knowledgable sommlier 2. nice ambiance 3. kind manager (who happenned to ask us how our meal was on our way out. He offered his card and asked us back, but we'll go elsewhere...) 4. good popovers (but not good enough to make up for the rest
  9. Great steak, annoying waitstaff, home of the 9 dollar beer!
  10. Service was perfect, wine A+, ambiance was really upscale, modern- it was trendy, but not cheap looking, and comfortable.
  11. The waiter was nice, but not great, he seemed confused when I asked for a wine recommendation between $50-60, went off to read his cliff notes, then returned 10 minutes later with a $70 recommendation.
  12. is always in the kitchen--Prime has one of the best wine lists in New York.
  13. really extensive wine list with great price ranges and wines from all around the world made it easy to have a nice glass of red with my steak.
  14. They turned away guests at the door telling them there was no party there that night, understaffed our party so guests weren't served drinks or appetizers, food was completely mediocre for $125 pp.

  1. All of my family, said the steak was fantastic.
  2. The food was as good as always.
  3. As I said, the food was fine but nothing great.
  4. prices are in line with all of the prime beef steakhouses , big thumbs up!
  5. Great food, great service!
  6. For great steak and great service, go to Wolfgang's.
  7. really extensive wine list with great price ranges and wines from all around the world made it easy to have a nice glass of red with my steak.
  8. BLT Prime is one of my favorite places in NEW YORK the prices are high but the quality of the food is well worth it!
  9. Then the asparagus, mushrooms and potatos sides which were equally good and the porterhouse for two (which I would recommend only if you like fattier cuts).
  10. Even great garlic bread!
  11. The sharing concept is a great way to enjoy a variety of the delicious sides on the menu.
  12. Nice atmosphere and my one martini was very good HOWEVER, the food was bloody terrible.
  13. the food here is good, but the overall experience is not worthwhile.
  14. As you walk in you can see the big meat refrigerator with all the dead cow you'll ever want to see inside.
  15. yes the place is a little loud and noisy, but the quality of the beef is outstanding!
  16. Their dinner rolls are very tasty.
  17. The side dishes were huge and so good.
  18. happen to have a stomach of steel and food never bothers me so the fact that I threw-up says it all.
  19. nice beef!
  20. It defeats the whole purpose of ordering such great meat to cook it to death.
  21. Great steak, annoying waitstaff, home of the 9 dollar beer!
  22. They turned away guests at the door telling them there was no party there that night, understaffed our party so guests weren't served drinks or appetizers, food was completely mediocre for $125 pp.
  23. If you are looking for a great quality meal, and have never been to any of the BLT's, then I think you should definitely go to BLT Prime first.
  24. good food for a price
  25. will say though if you want an amazing steak it is worth the price, don't order any booze or wine and the bill will be much cheaper.
  26. Large quantities - but save room for the vegetables, which are the real highlights I think, for example perfect mash potato, leek hash browns, creamed spinach and always a range of mushrooms - suggest you share a few.
  27. The steak was good.
  28. 1. good wine, knowledgable sommlier 2. nice ambiance 3. kind manager (who happenned to ask us how our meal was on our way out. He offered his card and asked us back, but we'll go elsewhere...) 4. good popovers (but not good enough to make up for the rest
  29. the food is actually good.
  30. The space is beautiful, the waitstaff was extremely helpful and the food was amazing.
  31. We really enjoyed BLT steak when it first opened.
  32. The steak was very good (though not incredible), the appetizers and sides where forgettable and overpriced.
  33. The appetizer was amazing, we had the beefsteak tomato salad and from there it just became okay.
  34. poor food, subpar service
  35. Not only was the food amazing, but the sommelier had the cutest little tight suit on.
  36. went and had the stuffed mushrooms to start, really delicious.
  37. If you go to a place like this don't order a well done steak.
  38. The food was excellent, if perhaps a bit too rich, as was the presentation and service.
  39. Great wine, great food, great jovial staff.
  40. The steak at Steak is good but the intense heat used creates and almost uniform char that seems unnatural.
  41. for sides, the aspargus was cold and burnt, the stuffed mushrooms were cold too and the stuffing tasted like crumbled Ritz Crackers with butter.
  42. The appetizers were ok, a white gazpacho soup that tasted nothing like gazpacho, and fantastic bacon, but the steaks we had were absolutely phenomenal.
  43. Fabulous food
  44. Amazing steaks, very attentive service, the creamed corn with truffles was to die for, drinks were great!
  45. The crab cake was barely average, the bacon was tasty, but too salty to eat more than a couple of bites.
  46. This was possibly the worst meal we've had in the city.
  47. The main dishes ordered were the lamb, rib eye and no red meat for me, but chicken, yes, thank you for being "the other white meat" because their chicken was so good I couldn't believe it.
  48. Steaks wonderful and perfectly cooked with a range of tasty and imaginative sauces, but other dishes (especially braised short ribs, dover sole) are perfect.
  49. We ordered a steak for two which I don't remember which kind it was but I must say it was one of the best steaks I've ever had.
  50. had the filet with Bernaise and it was delicious; my husband had roast chicken that was so juicy and flavorful.
  51. was willing to overlook the shotty service if the food was great.
  52. The food was really good, they had some weird things on the menu too- if you want to try something different.
  53. The food was very good.
  54. We also had some salads (which were uncharacteristically huge for a steakhouse) and the bacon app which were great.
  55. We all shared dessert which was delicious.
  56. The steak was terrible, the potatos were horrible.
  57. Pretty pricey, but steak was really good, fancy decor, pleasant stuff, noisy and crowded atmosphere - TUNA TARTAR was really really good!
  58. 1. sides were too salty (and we tend to like things on the saltier side). The beans, caesar salad and home fries were hard to swallow, but if you like dijon or mustard, then maybe the home fries are for you. 2. we ordered a porterhouse for 2 done medium
  59. Want a bad steak that WON'T force premature bankruptcy?
  60. The creamed spinach was outstanding but the portion was TINY as was the au gratin potatoes.
  61. The service is always great and the food is remarkable.
  62. Overall, I thought it was great - the food was delicious and the waitstaff was unbelievable - however i could of done without the snotty hosts.
  63. Served with pre-appetiser warm pate and then gruyere popovers before you get into the food.

  4. The atmosphere has a lot of potential but the too loud 80's music, paper menu's and a 25 foot plastic full wall menu were turn offs.

return potential
75.0% positive
  1. really enjoyed dinner there and will be back.
  2. we wanted to love this place but were awfully disappointed and will never go back
  3. I'd go back in a second if it were at a quieter time and someone else were paying -- and I wouldn't order the porterhouse again.
  4. When you first walk into this place the environment is great and it definitely looks how you'd expect a "high-end modern steakhouse" to look, but after spending an evening there I can never come back.

  2. The hostess was very engaging and nice but hey that's her job right?
  3. Food is good, but service lacks pretty much everything.
  4. For great steak and great service, go to Wolfgang's.
  5. And the tables were just close enough that we could have friendly conversation with the tourists on our right and completely ignore the annoying high-roller types on our left.
  6. Amazing steaks, very attentive service, the creamed corn with truffles was to die for, drinks were great!
  7. with nearly 15 years of collective experience of living in nyc, we agreed that it had the worst service we've ever experienced.

  18. The dining room was comfortable and morden but the service continued to disappoint.

Best BLT restaurant

by Represent0the0ppl

This is my favorite BLT restaurant! It has a little bit of everything! BLT Fish and Fish Shack has mainly seafood, BLT Steak has mainly steaks, etc. I am completely in love with this restaurant! Their staff is more than helpful (managers included)! I have to say that I have never had a bad experience in this restaurant. If you are looking for a great quality meal, and have never been to any of the BLT's, then I think you should definitely go to BLT Prime first. They have an amazing wine selection also. Great food, great service! A definite must.

  • Pros: Has a little bit of everything - amazing quality meal

Totally overrated

by novachels

I took my boyfriend out to dinner for a special occasion and was so excited to try BLT Prime. We are Wolfgang's lovers and expected to have an even better experience at BLT Prime, but we were sorely disappointed. Despite not being crowded, the server seemed disinterested in us at best. He was inattentive and apathetic and we had to wait over ten minutes for our drinks to come back from the bar.

I was willing to overlook the shotty service if the food was great. Again, disappointed. Our $80 sirloin for two was severely undercooked. We ordered it medium and received a dancing cow on our plates instead. The meat was so rare it was cold. We sent it back and the server appeared as if we were inconveniencing him with our request to have our meat cooked to our requested temperature.

All in all, BLT Prime was a huge disappointment. For great steak and great service, go to Wolfgang's.

  • Pros: Good music
  • Cons: Poor service, mediocre overpriced wine and undercooked meat
