“So my boyfriend and i decided to come into the city for one of our romantic evenings.”
“ordered the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Tart for dessert, carmelized banana along with the vanilla gelato and chocolate sauce, sounds like a banana split, but MUCH better!”
“Uusally at free promotions like these drinks are made with the cheap stuff and tend to be on the weak side but our bartender hooked us up with the good stuff instead.”
“the food and service was quite nice.”
“The wine menu was excellent with a range of quality wines from in-expensive to some finer chianti wines from well known vineyards and regions as I would well know as I have studied wines from the Italian and French regions intensively for a few years.”
“Not a great restaurant - other rewiews misleading”
“This will definitely be added to my list of favorite New York restaurants and one I will come back to on my next visit up from DC.”
“Glad to see such a nice place with such nice staff that really wants to take care of you without the pretentiousness of midtown.”
“My criteria were excellent food, trendy settings, great service and value for my money.”
“oftentimes the midtown lunch scene is either too pretentious and expensive OR too casual and quick.”
Different World. Absolutely delicious! The interior of the restaurant is the romantic and you feel you have escaped city life and are in another place. My friend and I had the 3 course meal with the parmigiano reggiano, the salmone al cedro and the beef carpaccio. I cannot describe how delicious each plate was, especially the salmone al cedro, I didn't want it to end! The staff was all very attentive and professional. Definitely recommended for any occasion.
great food, great service, great find.
So far I've only had appetizers, but they are fantastic. Try the goat cheese and fig bruchetta. The calamari was cooked perfectly, which is difficult to find.
The staff is very welcoming, attentive and friendly. I have a hard time believing a meal here could just be a step above mediocre.
Extraordinary Service and Nice Decor - Food was Good, but Not Impressive. One weekday evening, a few of my clients and myself decided to dine at Ribot. As we entered the restaurant, the outside area was busy with happy hour folks, all of whom seemed to be enjoying themselves. The interior's decor was modern, sleek and clean. The service was very attentive and top notch. The head waiter maintained a fun and light hearted rapport with us. The selection of food, in terms of the way they grouped it in different categories (traditional, modern and etc) was novel and interesting. The food itself, though, while good was nothng to write home about. I would say that it was slightly above medicore. My only other qualm was the noise level. We sat on the floor level, which is not very large. There was a group of maybe 7 folks nearby who were chatting quite loudly. With a small space, the noise level became annoying.
Wonderful food and service.
Last night my husband and I visited Ribot upon a friend's recommendation. What a wonderful experience! It is a beautiful restaurant and we were seated promptly. We began with a chilled cucumber and yogurt soup, which was delicious and perfect on a hot summer night. We then shared the scallop appetizer...3 different preparations of the scallops and each one was better than the last. I ordered the seared cod with artichokes and fingerling potatoes for my entree. It was perfectly prepared...so light and flaky. My husband ordered the grilled swordfish, which he often orders at a restaurant when he is given the opportunity. He couldn't stop raving...it was the best swordfish steak that he has ever had!
We managed to save room for dessert and had a platter of assorted Italian treats....all I can say is YUM!
Our meal was perfection....the chef is truly talented. The service was wonderful...attentive without being overbearing! We will definitely be back again and again.
Much Improved. I used to frequent this place last summer for the outdoor seating and drinks. I had eaten here a few times but was never that impressed. I had the opportunity to dine here again on saturday and it would appear as though a lot has changed. The food was very good and the menu was very extensive. The service is very attentive. I will definately be back this summer to enjoy the food as well as the outdoor venue here.
Worst service I have had in 12 years.. This is a beautiful looking restaurant, but we had the worst service we've ever had this weekend. After being seated, we ordered, and received bread and water, but after 45 minutes, as the restaurant was slowly emptying out, we still had not received our appetizer. When we inquired what was happening, no food still arrived, and no one apologized either. 10 minutes later, we had to actually get up and make a fuss with the waiter -- but still no food, after being in the restaurant for 1 hour and 15 minutes! It was inexplicable and upsetting. In frustration, we finally left with no dinner
Amazing!. A friend recommended Ribot a few weeks ago, finally decided to give it a try. I'm a huge fan of italian cuisine, and I was thoroughly impressed. My sister ordered the Gnocchi di Ricotta, I'm not a fan of gnocchi or ricotta...but was forced to try it. And to my surprise, it was AMAZING!!! I ordered the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Tart for dessert, carmelized banana along with the vanilla gelato and chocolate sauce, sounds like a banana split, but MUCH better! You won't be disappointed.
Heavy handed. A group of my friends and I stopped in for drinks on Wednesday nite for martinis. A little disappointed at first to find out it was only well liquor. Uusally at free promotions like these drinks are made with the cheap stuff and tend to be on the weak side but our bartender hooked us up with the good stuff instead. Needless to say we stumbled out of there, pockets not drained.
Scrumpdidlyumptious. Ribot is a rare find - gorgeous atmosphere, friendly and attentive service, but most of all the food is delicious. The Italian food is some of the city's finest, particulary the gnocchi, as some other reviewers have also noted. Add a great wine selection on top of all of that and you have a meal that is out of this world!
Gnocchi is insanely good.. I used to be a frequent customer of Fiamma Osteria, but Ribot has stolen Fiamma's spot. I read the reviews here and decided to check out this spot and it was good. It is a smaller, but not a really small restaurant with a great vibe to it. And the food is finger licking/ plate licking good. The service was prompt and there was a great choice of alcohol. Never got to try the desserts since my date and I were way too full to even get to it. The scallop appetizer was good and if you are a first timer then get the gnocchi as it won't disappoint.
