Editorial Review for Tapeo 29 – by Angela Gaimari
The Scene
The heavy wooden door guarding this tapas bar wouldn't be out of place in a cobblestoned medieval village. Behind it, nothing stands out--it's an intimate, casual setup with brick walls, small dark wood tables, and large centerpiece bar. In the early evenings, couples and neighborhood kids snack in a nondescript scene, but advanced hours draw in go-out crowds. The helpful waitstaff is happy to serve.
The Draw
First dates fit right in flirting over the inventive drink menu, where specialty twists spice up traditional Latin cocktails. Not for the appletini set, the unusual blueberry margaritas and cranberry mojitos taste less sweet than they sound and rather sangria-like. A safer bet is the wine list with rewarding choices from Spain. Pair a glass with Spanish tapas which are consistently pleasant but not too adventurous. Plates are small, so be sure to check your Rioja intake accordingly--the shotglass of gazpacho isn't exactly counter-balancing.

Insider Tips
What to EatHave a say in your small bite--for the Fiambres y Quesos platter, choose three meats and cheeses from a list of 12. With stalwarts manchego, jambon serrano and spicy chorizo, you can't go wrong--and the staff is glad to recommend.
Save MoneyCall to see when the next "Flight Night" is. Sample three nice reds or whites and a choice of tapas of the day for $15.

Went before hitting the movies Sat night, was a great sunny day, all the windows were fully open and with the 2 4 1 beer deal it was just perfect, also had the Garlic Shrimp which was hitting the nail right on the head!!! Went to the movies (saw Tropic Thunder and it was funny as hell) Get this, my girl wanted to go back to this place for food and drinks, the wait staff recommended a great bottle of wine and some taps to go with it, my lady was very happy and that made the rest of my night very happy!!! Thank you Tapeo29.
Pros: Good looking crowd, very easy going and fun place
Cons: 2 4 1 beers are only to 8PM

Good to go for 2 for one beers but pay as you go and then get out of there! The food is not good, poor quality and overpriced but the management is worse. We were there with a group of 5 for a pre dinner drink/snack and ran up a $600 tab. When we received the bill there were multiple things we did not order and drinks billed we did not have. We brought this up to the manager and tried to explain a 110 pound girl did not sit there and have 10 beers and a shot (she was only one drinking wheat beer and was still sober). just one example. After a long discussion he discounted a couple drinks (still way over charged). worst is when the CC bill arrived it was for the original amount. I will never go back and have steered multiple groups away from that place since.
Pros: 2 for one beers
Cons: service, management., food
