There are pleanty of Karaoke bars - you're no monopoly

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I've been a loyal customer at this place since I've lived in NYC. So sad that I will have to part with this place because of a manager who does not know how to treat a customer and certainly knows how to ruin someone's night.
As a Korean, I wanted to show my non-Korean friends how to have fun at a Karaoke.
So I made a reservation for a room at this place in person as their phones were busy (probably still busy...). Once I show up in time with my friends, the manager says reservation hasn't been made (while one of the serving guys says he remembers seeing me) and that we will have to wait for 40min. When I complained, she told me to "GO TO ANOTHER PLACE OR WAIT"!! I've never seen this manager but she needs to be let go if they want to stay in business. That is no way to treat a customer, let alone loyal customer who goes no where else but this place for a Karaoke.
Yes, you have one of the best Karaoke facilities, and yes there aren't that many Korean Karaoke's in NYC, but you are no monopoly. I will certainly go to another place and NEVER COME HERE again. I will let all my Korean and non-Korean friends know about my dreadful experience. There's a Karaoke right across the street from this place and I tried it for the first time after the incidence. Recommend people to go there instead if you don't want to have one of your nights ruined by a manager who needs to learn how to treat customers.
- Pros: Facility
- Cons: Service, Manager
Quite possibly the rudest workers at any nyc koreatown spot
by methadistic
As someone who's been a regular around 32nd street for many many years now, I was shocked at how snobby and rude the workers at this place (now called "CHORUS KARAOKE") were. It was the second time here in a few weeks (not by my choice), and this time it was as if they wanted to MAKE SURE we got the message that they don't like us and want us to leave.
I heard a very underground hiphop song being played in the lobby, so i asked them where they got the cd from, who's into this music. they all ignored me and just glared back. then, when i was walking away, they started making sneering remarks at me in korean ("do we know this guy?" and "man, i hope they leave soon") with full knowledge i could still hear them. then, my friend asked them if smoking was allowed since he could see people in other rooms lighting up. they gave us a firm "no," even though other rooms were full of smoke still on our way out.
I'm familiar and usually understanding about rude korean employees or miscommunication, but i was shocked at how much they wanted to let us know that they don't want anything to do with us. If my friends persuade me to go again, and i have another such incident, they shouldn't be surprised if I respond more aggressively next time, I don't need yet another ruined night from some jerks.
- Pros: nice decor, sorta "hip" for a karaoke spot
- Cons: the rudest, most arrogant employees you'll come across; different rules & prices for whoever they like or dislike.
