HORRIBLE CEVICHE SO I CAN TELL WITH AUTHORITY I AM PERUVIAN. ON 03/20/10 ME AND MY SISTER WANTED TO TRY HOW GOOD WAS THE FOOD IN THIS "RESTAURANT"

WHAT A HORRIBLE DISSAPOINTMENT!!! FIRST THE TOASTED CORN(CANCHA) WAS BATHED IN OIL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE FOR SO LONG TIME STORED SO THEY CAN SAY IS FRESH!!

SECOND WE ORDERED TWO CEVICHES AND THE NIGHTMARE STARTED . NEVER IN MY LIFE HAD PAID SO MUCH FOR A SERVING THAT SIZE,.....A DIONNER PLATE IS USUALLY (AT LEAST IN PERU) USED TO SERVE FOOD . THE CEVICHES CAME IN A LITTLE TRAY (USED TO SERVE CORN ON THE COB) ....THEN NUMBER ONE THE SWEET POTATO WAS SO HARD AND UNCOOKED AND THE FISH INSTEAD OF BEING RAW AND MARINATED IN LILME JUICE(AS IT SHOULD BE) WAS TOO MUSHY AND COLD DUE TO THE FACT THEY PREPARED WAY BEFORE HAND AND THE SOAKED IN LIME JUICE AND FREEZE IT..WRONG!!!!!!!!!! ASK ANY PERUVIAN HOW FRESH THE CEVICHE SHOULD BE ..... THE FISH FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE SHOULD BE FRESH( NOT THAWED) AND THE LIME JUICE AND OTHER SPICES SHOULD BE ADDED AT THE VERY RIGHT MOMENT OF SERVING ...THIS CEVICHE TO GET THIS MUSHY STATE, WAS FREEZED TOO LONG IN THE FRIDGE ALONG WITH THE JUICES..........

AND TO COMPLEMENT WE ORDERED A CAUSA...AND TO OUR SURPIRSE THE SIZE OF A CAUSA WAS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A WATER CRACKER/COOKIE WHICH WE PAID 10 DOLLARS

AT THE END OF THIS HORRENDOUS SITUATION FOR TWO CEVICHES 1 CAUSA AND 2 SODAS

THE BILL WAS 60.00 DOLLARS....!!!!!AND THY HAD THE NERVE TO ADD A WHOOPING 20% GRATUITY (ABOUT 10 DOLLARS ) AND I CALLED THE WAITRESS AND ASKED WHY THEY INICLUDED THE GRATUITY ON THE BILL AND HE SAID IT WAS THE RESTAURANT POLICY.NOT IT WAS PLAIN RIPOFF SO I DENIED TO PAY THE GRATUITY AND HE IN TOTAL STATE OF SHAME DEDUCTED FOR THE BILL

I USED TO HAVE A RESTAURANT AND ONE THING TO BE IN THE FOOD BUSINESS AND ANOTHER WHAT LIMA'S TASTE DOES IS A HOLDUP OF MOSTLY AMERICAN CUSTOMERS WHO DONT KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT THE FLAVOR AND DETAIL OF PERUVIAN CUISINE..PLAIN AND SIMPLE

TO END DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR DO NOT GO THAT RESTAURANT GO SOMEWHERE WHERE YOUR POCKET AND STOMACH WILL THANK YOU

best ceviche and date spot in town. Everything about this place is excellent. As a New Orleanian, I KNOW FOOD...and Lima's Taste is EXCELLENT!!! The ceviche is fresh, spicy, and utterly foodgasmic. The pisco sour cocktails put the New Orleans Hurricane cocktail to shame. If you are on a date...order the pisco and your nerves will immediately fly away. In addition your date will suddenly appear to be more attractive.

Theater and a meal. Last night I went to The Lucille Lortel Theater on Christopher Street. When we left it was pouring rain. Across the street is Limas Taste. To avoid the rain we ducked into Limas Taste. Good lord that was one of the most superb culinary experiences I have ever experienced. The three of us shared everything--ribs, paella, the chicken smothered in a peruvian sauce over yucca and shrimp wrapped in bacon were all washed down with a very powerful sangria. Peruvian food is cool....

Bad Rap. This is one if not my favorite restaurants. The food is a treasure. Try the ceviche mixto, the papa rellena, the ribs and the chicken in the cream sauce. The seafood in a spicy sauce is the ultimate. I am half Peruvian and can tell you this is the best Peruvian food I have ever eaten in America. I also feel the need to defend them after reading some of the reviews. The service is not that bad and they deal with a large "international" clientele. As a Peruvian I will say we are a warm beatiful people but when it comes to eating in restaurants we are a little difficult and I understand how the wait staff might have had a few off moments. My experience has always been pretty good with the wait staff, they are not exceptional but they are more than adequate. The place is great for drinking, you must try the Pisco Sour.

Horrible service, lots of mice in the restaurant. I had dinner there on Oct. 1 and it was a big disappointment. No one greeted us, the host was playing a video game facing opposite the entrance. Most f the drinks on the menu were not available since the slush machine had been broken for a week. Really...

Then we saw a few mice crawling around the dining area, they were hard to see since the light were dim. When I alereted our waiter, he shrugged indicating that it happens at nighttime. The passionfruit dessert was rtoo swet and had to wait 5 minutes after it was brought to my table to get a spoon.

Outstanding. Excellent food, uniquely different to other cuisines. We found the staff to be very curtious and friendly. The service was slow, but, we were out enjoying our dinner, our company, and talking over delicious food - who want's to be rushed when you are enjoying yourself. It was our second visit and will not be our last. Lima's Taste is a favorite for us.

HORRENDOUS. First of all, I am not exaggerating when I say that the entire staff here are so incredibly rude, to the point of being shocking. You can expect to be rushed out, only after being ignored and subjected to a "your lucky to be here" attitude. There's a guy [ with a rather disturbing Geri-Curl ] who stomps around loudly, like a zombie taking plates before asking, mumbling about the patrons and grabbing menus out of peoples hands. It was unbelievable, everyone was looking around at one another in disbelief. Everyone on staff was nasty to everyone. I thought perhaps we were taking part in a "Candid Camera" episode. You do not want to go here, especially when there are so many wonderful restaurants in Manhattan to choose from. If you are jonesing for paella, really great paella, go to Socaratt [spelling?] on 259 W19th and 7th Ave.

Authentic Peruvian Food. Yesterday, I had dinner with my best friend at Lima's Taste. She was coming from Ohio and I wanted to invite her to have some Peruvian food. I'm from Peru and I have tried almost every peruvian restaurant in New York and I have to say that Lima's Taste offers authentic Peruvian Cuisine.

First, we started with Ceviche Mixto that was very good even the portion was kind of small. Then we tried Papa Rellena and my friend was surprised for the flavor, she just loved it. As a main course, I ordered Aji de Pollo: even is a different style than the original one (no steamed potato) the dish was excellent. My friend ate Lomo Saltado that was amazing!!!! We had two Pisco Sours (were ok) and Alfajores as a dessert (10/10). The place is small but cozy and the service is average.

My friend has fallen in love with Peruvian Cuisine thanks to Lima's Taste.

Best Ceviche I tried!!!!!!. I went last Saturday to have some ceviche at this small restaurant with my husband. We had Pisco Sour that was ok and Fish and Salmon Ceviche. The Ceviches were really excellent with a side of huge steam corn. Then we tried the Creamy salmon with rice that was amazing!!!! The atmosphere was romantic, the service was good. I recommend the place.
