Editorial Review for Lima's Taste Ceviche Bar – by Kara Zuaro
The Scene
Plum-colored walls peek from between brick exposures and vividly hued paintings, including a bright rendition of "The Last Supper" that seems anything but somber. The effect is as smooth and refreshing as the house sangria--seemingly made for sipping in the restaurant's ornately carved chairs. You'll often catch the affable owner checking the score of the Peruvian soccer match on the flat-screen TV.
The Food
At once exotic and comforting, this is Peruvian home cooking at its best. A large portion of fried yucca, grilled shrimp, and scallops fills the complexly flavorful and undeniably hot seviche caliente, while the lemon-limed-steeped seviche pescado is cool, tender, and delicately spiced. For meat lovers, the lomo saltado--saucy chunks of filet mignon tossed with thick fries--can't be beat. Finish with the sweet and sticky dolce de leche, topped with fresh meringue (served soft, not toasted)--a piece of heaven served in a wine glass.

The seafood ceviche was delicious but too picante for my friends...the rest of the food was ok. Better the Pisco souer. I went there hoping to find a good taste of Peruvian food and friendly people. Anfortunately the service was awful...the waiters were not at all friendly and they brought us the check without even asking for it and we couldn't get desert or more piscos. A complete dissapointed as I have Peruvian friends are very nice and warm. I won't be back there for sure.

While we quite enjoyed Peruvian food in Peru we were very disappointed by Lima's Taste. Apart from the ceviche and the pisco sour which were quite good, the main dishes were mediocre and the lamb I ordered had so much pepper my taste buds went completely numb. Apart from the mediocre meal, the service was indifferent at best with a bored wait staff and a bill that took almost thirty minutes to get. The owner seems to be hovering around in an effort to salvage the situation but we won't be dining in this expensive pepper-galore restaurant.
Pros: Good location, cozy
Cons: Mediocre food, poor service, expensive
