best Salon in NYC. I am very fussy about my hair, both color and cut. I've been to all the high profile salons in the city and have had good and bad experiences in all of them, that is until I returned to AKS after a 10 year hiatus. I had followed a stylist and a colorist to another salon and spent years trying to figure out why I was happy with my hair every other time, and miserable every other time. On a friend's suggestion, I returned to AKS and I am so happy that it forced me to write a review. Since my return about 6 months ago, not a day has passed without someone complementing me on my hair, equal parts color and cut. Everyone there is nice, professional and the service and atmosphere is great. I don't know why anyone goes any where else. From a very happy client.

Best all around hair team. Talented & fun: John, Kim & Drew. Couldn't walk down the street without compliments on the cut from John. And, the color Kim did made my hair look even more incredible. Highly recommend this highly skilled team who are fun to spend an afternoon with.

Best color. Kimberly Williams is the best colorist I've been to in Manhattan. She has a great eye for natural color. I started going to Kim this past summer, and she turned my brassy blonde hair into a more golden Jennifer Aniston type of look. She is great at listening to clients requests, but also has amazing insight and ideas of her own. So if you're looking for natural and timeless hair color, search no further, see Kim!

Nice color job. I had a good experience with Kimberly Williams. I took in pictures of what I wanted my color to look like. She was very open to discussing our result expectations. Pictures and photos always help your hair dresser. I am happy with my color. I thought Kimberly was professional in her approach and careful in evaluating the color process.

Damaged my hair!. Kimberly Williams ruined my hair! She is unprofessional & unexperienced & she did the opposite of what i asked her. Do not trust this person to color your hair you will regret it!

highlights.
Jaleh was recommended to me by a friend, and I saw her yesterday. She did a magnificent job with my hair --
a honey golden tone -- very natural, and exactly what I
wanted, She is a superb colorist. I have worked with
some of the top colorists in NY, when I am here from Buenos Aires, and she has to be the best. Further-
more, the staff that I dealt with (Scott, who did my
complimentary blowdry; Mia, the assistant; and the
receptionists, were all very plesant. It is just a nice,
nice salon with very competent people.

The best highlights by JALEH. I have been getting my hair colored at Salon AKS for 5+ years now and have not even entertained the idea of going somewhere else (unless, of course, JALEH, my colorist, were to leave). Naturally, my hair is dark brown but I am now a true blond. In the fall/winter, JALEH tends to do warmer strawberry blonde tones and for spring and summer she brightens up my hair with golden honey tones.

recommened by a co-worker for highlights. i just started working in the city right on 5th avenue and 57th and co-worker recommended salon aks. I was in desperate need of some highlights and had to get it done asap because i had a date. i did not want to spend alot but she raved about this salon. so i booked an appt and was very happy with the outcome. sometimes when you get highlights there are some areas around the forehead that show noticeable roots but they blended all of these areas in perfectly. even though it cost more than i am used to spending or can typically afford i was very happy and will most likely go back.

Alex great for Brazilian Blowout. Alex did a terrific job with my Brazilian Blowout. Now my hair is silky and easy to maintain. He also trimmed my split ends and my hair looks so healthy. I've had bad experiences before with this process and am so relieved to have discovered Alex. Highly recommended.
