Extremely pricey. Ridiculously small portions
by Dhruv at Citysearch
Food was alright, actually a bit blend. I ended up ordering a thali which was also blend but wasnt expensive. Others with me ordered ala carte and those portions were way too small, and prices are way too high.
Cant believe someone said best indian food, because that is far from truth. One of the guys serving is very snobby and sort of unwelcoming which makes the whole experience even worse. We did have a great time making fun of the small portions.
New York's best indian Food

Some one said it correctly.Copper Chimney is a hidden treasure. The food was great. The service was fantastic and the sanitary grade "A". It could not get any better.
The fact is i like to go to pretty places that are clean and affordable with the right portion sizes , which means you do not end up over eating unlike some restaurants where quantity is of more value than quality and it is ok if you over eat you can still be cheap and skip dinner!!!! Well i do not agree I like my porion sizes not too large .Also i saw that Copper is introducing Lunch Thali on weekend staring from 7.95 pp ..Beautiful and perfect ...Wel Well Well see u at copper..I hate to cook
Nothing special...!

There is nothing special abt this restaurant. They are not respectful to customers. There are too many better restaurants around to choose from.
We were told that they do not take credit/debit cards?? what kind of place is that ?? And they lied about some other stuff that City of NY/consumers dept. should get involved in?? Only one way to deal with them....
Spare yourself the horror of Copper Chimney
by manasjha at Citysearch
This was by far our most horrendous restaurant experience. EVER!! It all started with the service being extremely poor. The waiter was completely aloof, we had to call him repeatedly to get some service. Stuff was being thrown on our table and it damn near knocked my glass of water over several times! When asked why the Rasam tasted so bad we were told its supposed to taste like plain red chilli in water!! We were then informed that the kitchen was closing and we better hurry it up; it was 9:30pm then! All this prompted us to dispute the flat 20% gratuity included in the check. The manager started arguing that it was compulsary and threatened to call the cops on us in case we didn't pay the entire 20%!! I wonder if we are legally obliged to pay 20% then why is it added as an after-tax amount!! It gets worse, the owner then started blaming my friend for not moving when the food was being served and screamed that we were too busy talking than observing the service!!! I really don't know what kind of an idiot the owner is. But all this was enough for us to throw a fit and leave the place in heated argument. This place is two-thumbs way down. 28th and Lex has far better Indian restaurants. Please spare yourself the horror that is Copper Chimney.

I went to Copper Chimney with a group of six people.i think the food was fantastic ,mind blowing,I have eaten at many indian restaurants and Copper Chimney's food stand out.It is perfect. We ordered honey gobi garlic, dahi puri, shrimps, crab cake and chicken 65 as appetizers and all were a hit,The main course chicken chettinad and lamb of two kinds and daal and the very yummy methi malai mutter were superb,Liquid copper was a very yummy cocktail ,Overall the food was fantastic,The service was very attentive ,We also got the beat rasmalai and gulab jamun as complimentary dessert.I would def go again and again.I was also informed that the restaurant has a weekly buffet fot 8.95 all you can eat and had items that were not on the menu,Can't wait to try.A great find in Little india
