Color correction and Highlights! – Excellent! I had bad highlights for the past year and a half. Since moving to NY I have been searching for hair help. I have seen a few stylist who basically fried my hair. Daniel did an amazing job and I could not be happier. My hair looks so much more natural, healthy and even toned. The live in space they work out of is very cozy and welcoming. Not to mention their very loving pets. I am going back soon to have my color touched up before my wedding! I know my hair will be perfect!
Genius Hairdressers – Making a switch to new hairdressers is definitely scary and not something I do often. I was with my last hairdresser for 5 years when it was time for me to make a switch. 5 years ago I went to the top NYC salons only to be competely dissapointment in my hair and spending astronomical amounts of money, only to be completely dissapointed. This time around - I did my research and I have to tell you from my first meeting with Daniel I was hooked. He knows hair, texture, and what would be the absolute best for your look. Since my first haircut with him, my hair has NEVER looked better - healthy, totally manageable, and full of volume. Exactly what I have been looking for for years. It was time to take the plunge for color - and I worked with Zhanna to create the best color and richness for me. My hair was use to getting something called Boliage (hair paint with bleach). I had overprocessed, dried and damaged hair. Zhanna and Daniel worked with me to create a beautiful, rich hair color that is shiny, healthy, and luxurious. I now have truly FABULOUS hair. If you are looking for a change I promise you, you have found the absolute best hairdressers. I will be forever thankful to all the citysearch reviewers who shared their stories about this amazing salon. If it wasn't for you all, I would never have found these hair gods. All I can say is - this salon is truly a gem and is worth every single penny! Thank you Daniel and Zhanna for making me feel beautiful again!
I AM SHOCKED BY ALL THE POSTIVE REVIEWS – May be some of them are fake, but here is the experience I had:
I came in and to be fair the atmosphere was pleasant and the place looks nice. However, that is not enough to justify a $100+ haircut (men's) that lacks any real craft or expertise. I requested a layered look and the cut was lacking any real layers and was left essentially as i came in. It was basically a trim that my gf could have given me. I was so dissapointed. When you ask for that kind of money, it is absurd that the stylist does not have basic layering skills. The cut is bad, that I am now looking for a different place to fix it up
Surprising Location and Peaceful Professionals – I made the mistake of going to one of the Dramatic Salon locations who butchered my hair. I walked out horrified and dismayed. For days I wondered how I could find someone to fix the damage. I did a google search and 2b kept coming up. I emailed the salon and Daniel called me back. He was kind and concerned. I made an appt and was well taken care of. Daniel worked hard to correct my hair and I walked out of the salon feeling much better. I had a great hair style, felt listened to and was treated with sincere kindness.
Beautiful, sweet, relaxed. – I absolutely fell in love with this beautiful, intimate salon. The first thing I liked was how close it is to the train station. So easy to find! But still, just around the block from busy Fulton, Nassau feels like a private enclave. Jason buzzed me up and following him and the dog down the hall, I almost felt as though I had walked in to an old friend's stunning new apartment. Everyone was so nice -- Daniel and Zhauna were kind and soft-spoken, like "are you sure you don't want a glass of wine?" with a knowing eye, which I loved. And then my hair -- Jason was an excellent listener, asking questions, looking at the current length and cut, making sure we were both on the same page. Then on to the big room... the shampoo chair is amazing, like sleeping in a waterfall. And the service was FUN, laid-back, just right. I still felt like I was in the hands of a close, trusted friend. End result? Incredible. I was there almost 2 weeks ago and my friends are still talking and asking about it. 2 have appointments next week! Thanks all, truly a top shelf experience.
Amazing Experience – This is probably the best hair experience I have ever had. I'm never sure what I want to do with my hair, I just know that I like to change it all the time. I saw Jason and he took such good care of me. We talked about my hair, what I like it to look like, how I don't like to spend a lot of time on it, and how I love to color it. We decided to cut it short and sassy and color it very dark with dark red highlights around my face. He was so easy to talk to I felt comfortable the whole time. As I was processing, I tried one of the delicious passion fruit cosmos everyone on this site raves about; divine. When everything was done, I was so happy. My curly and sometimes unruly hair looked so good. And the color was amazing - super dark but hints of bright around my face so I didn't look pale and washed out.
Everything about this place is amazing. The space is beautiful. Daniel, Zhana, and Jason are all so friendly and warm. And the pets are an added bonus. I highly recommend it!
Test of time. – I wanted to give my shiny new hair-do a fair shake before committing to a glowing (maybe even perfect?) review of 2b salon. Of course I looked stunning the moment I left Zhauna's sure hands (you know, when you stare at yourself in every reflective surface from storefront to butter knife) and even kept it dry in the shower the next day to maintain that "just left salon" look and smell. For me the true test is when you get home, throw your own products, seven year-old blowdryer and cheap plastic Goody brush into the mix and see if the cut can withstand your mediocre talents to replicate an actual style. I'm happy to report that after one week of air dry, flat irons and bed-head, my cut and color is indeed winning the battle and tricking me to believe that I just simply can't look bad ... even with a pony tail and a barrette I found on the sidewalk outside my kid's school (don't pretend like you've never done it) So, I literally take my hat off to prove that an outstanding stylist can make all the difference in the world and I've found the girl of my dreams. Thanks, Z.
Great for color correction!!! – I went to 2b salon after I went to Roy Teeluck for color (DO NOT GO THERE), and than had to go back to get a correction on the color... after they screwed my hair up worse with their correction I knew I needed to find a new place to go. After all their glowing reviews on citysearch I decided to give it a try. A husband and wife own the salon (so cute), they made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Zhauna did such a great job on correcting my hair and being honest about what will and what won't work. I totally trust her ( I have been getting highlights for years and know who is good and who is not) she did such a great job I will def be going back. If you need highlights she is the person to go to, HIGHLY recommend!!!!!
Best hair experience ever – Dan and Zhauna are what hairstylists claim they cannot be--magicians. I tried their salon for the first time recently--and they transformed my hair! Dan gave me the best haircut I've ever had two months ago--and I'm still getting compliments. He instinctively knows the line and cut that goes best with your face. As for Zhauna, I came to her with lackluster, overprocessed blonde hair and she gave me a glorious, shiny brunette mane! I was nervous about making the transition but she talked me through the process with zero pressure and I'm so glad I took the plunge. My hair has simply never looked better.
The BEST colorist in NYC. Period. – I found this salon through Citysearch, and it is definitely the BEST hair coloring experience I have ever had! Simply put, Daniel is fantastic! He is sincere and truly analyzes the color scheme his customer wants against what will look good on the customer. He'll tell you straight up, what will or won't work, what kind of maintenance and upkeep will be required, and what will compliment one's skin tone. He really knows how to mix colors, and when you come out of his salon, all your friends will be saying "wow". Could not recommend him more. Yes, a bit pricey, but you get your full money's worth, without the salon attitude. And his pets are so cute.
