It was the worst spa experience of my life. I strongly urge you to reconsider using Spa Ja in your business. I originally booked the massage in June. Spa Ja called and cancelled that massage a few hours prior to the massage time. When I tried to reschedule the massage I was told I was being inflexible for wanting a Friday or Saturday evening. When I arrived, I was put in a massage room that was not usually used for massages and it smelled musty. They actually came in the room and sprayed fabreze. The masseuse did not ask any questions about what I wanted. I asked her to massage harder and she said she couldn't, that she didn't do deep tissue and I should have asked for it when booking my massage (although that option was never presented to me at booking time). She did the same run over and over again, neglected my lower back and neck which I told her was my main concern and massaged one foot and not the other. That was all terrible but not the worst part. When i approached the manager (who turned out to also be the owner) to tell him (out of earshot of the masseuse because I didn't wish to hurt her feelings) that i was disappointed, he said "I don't care." I told him about the room being smelly and he again said "I don't care, I don't feel like renovating" I told him about the fact that she could not do a deeper massage and that I should have been asked at booking time what my preference was and he again said "I don't care." I have never been treated so rudely, especially by an business owner. It ruined the night. Again, I urge you to cease doing business with Spa Ja as the owner does not stand by his business or care if the customer is dissatisfied. I told him i would be giving him a poor review and he didn't care about that either. thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my experience.
After trying for weeks to schedule an appointment here, my husband and I were finally able to get one. I had a suspicion from the start that they were shady to people using a Groupon. Then THIS MORNING, less than 2 hours before our scheduled massage time, the manager called to tell us that one of their masseuses didn't come in today, so he had to reschedule us and could do it FOR OVER A WEEK. I checked their website where it says "Cancelation policy - 24hrs notice or 50% of treatment cost will be charged", so I called back and demanded to be comped something since they had violated their own policy. At which point the manager told me he wasn't doing that because "life isn't fair". I then told him off and he told me he was cancelling out appointment all together and we could reschedule with Groupon.
Throughout the entire ordeal the MANAGER was incredibly rude to us and had a tone like he didn't care or value our business. Spas should stop selling packages on Groupon if they don't want people from Groupon coming in. Or maybe they could just run a nicer facility and then they wouldn't have so much trouble attracting customers!
DO NOT EVER GO HERE FOR ANY REASON! TERRIBLE!!!
The manager called to reschedule our massages less than 2 hours before we were scheduled. We told them we needed 24 hours notice, just like their cancellation policy and asked for some kind of make good. The manager was very rude about it, told us "that's life" and then cancelled our appointments and told us not to come in at all. This place does not deserve anyone's business!
Terrible Customer service. Although I admit that I did not get to expirience their services and am therefore not able to judge it's quality, I have to give this spa a poor rating due to it's customer service. I had some unused credit for services purchased but never used. When I tried to use my credit they made it extremely difficult by placing false and made up limitations on the use of the credit . The credit was provided to me with the written and contracted understanding that I would be able to use it for any service they provided but they refused to honor that agreement. I normally don't get as frustrated but I believe spa's of all places should hold customer service as vital and you kow something is not good about a place when just trying to book a massage gives you added stress and tension lol.
a truly great place – I went to Spa Ja initially with a Groupon massage I had been given by a friend who goes there. I had iced tea while I waited and there were cookies, cakes, nuts... to nibble on. I loved the massage and everything about the place. I have since been back for hair, highlights and a cut and Brazilian waxing. This is my new place.
TERRIBLE SERVICE – This was my third massage here over the course of one year - all three massages were great but the service is TERRIBLE unfortunately. I hardly ever feel compelled to write a review but I think these three experiences warrant it. The gentleman behind the counter does not seem happy and complained to me, a customer, that all of his customers rip him off by buying groupons and other discounted services. I said that I have returned numerous times to other places - the discount served as a way to bring me in. He continued saying 'we will see if you come back but I doubt it.' What's worse, there is a woman who I believe works in the salon area who sits on the reception couch and talks about the customers. Another patron finished when I arrived and as soon as she left, they began talking about her 'squeaky voice' and 'little stature' and how it reminded them of some horribly annoying person they new in highschool - all in front of me.
I hate to give this place this review as the actual massages were very good. I hope their masseurs are able to go to another spa with great service to compliment their talents.
GREAT WAX – purchased a groupon deal for a brazilian wax the lady was great, i will definitely go back thank you Spa Ja
Receptionist has major attitude - he needs the social skill – Horrible - Don't book here - flaming receptionist was so rude and lied. You are a receptionist for a cheap salon you ugly idiot - get off your high horse - you are the lowest of the low. Flaming dog!!
HORRIBLE SERVICE – I bought the Groupon deal for Spa Ja thinking that it seemed like an ok price for a decent looking place. Today I called to book an appointment and was informed by the incredibly rude receptionist that they are completely booked for massages on weekends through April. WHAT?! This is a third tier spa with mediocre service, mediocre decor, and outrageous prices. In what world are they booked for every hour of every weekend through April? I truly thought the receptionist was joking when she said this. Not only did she not apologize or make any effort to try to find me an appointment, she rudely hung up on me when I expressed by surprise at hearing this news. For $130 you can go to a much nicer spa in NYC with better massages and certainly better service. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!
go elsewhere – My massage at Spa Ja was very disappointing. The masseuse I had gave a very mediocre back rub -- she didn't even begin to get the knots in my back despite the fact that I asked for more pressure. Instead of feeling significantly better after this massage, I felt like I hadn't even had one.
