“Our wines were nice and the food was great!”
“Received a gift basket from Arte as a gift - wonderful selection of foods - delicious too - creatively packaged by a "talented" employee!”
“Especially given the increases in genuinely good wine bars in NYC and the Upper West Side, you can do much better than what this place has to offer.”
“The service was friendly enough.”
“The decor is comfortable without looking as if you're at a place waiting for a bus or a cheap Cafeteria.”
Great Coffee Shop. This is a really good little neighborhood alternative to Starbucks for morning muffins and newspaper reading. I am not sure if they have wi-fi. Hope so because I just bought a new Macbook!
Lovely wine bar at night. My husband and I stopped by here on a Monday evening on the way to Wine and Roses. The organic wine advertised and one free candlelight table through the window caught our eye. We had a great experience and never made it to Wine and Roses! Our wines were nice and the food was great! The cheese plate comes with a basket of fresh, thinly sliced bread, and my husband had an amazing plate of mushroom pasta for only $6! Decent bread pudding and a great cappuccino capped the experience. We were so glad we stopped in!
Terrific place for a coffee and more !. Great place, with a bit of an Italian flare. I like going there on a Sunday morning they have a relaxing atmosphere one of the nicest in the Upper West Side. The decor is comfortable without looking as if you're at a place waiting for a bus or a cheap Cafeteria. The selection of fresh baked goods such as the scones, and muffins are enticing. Try the pound loaf it is very good.
Extremely mediocre.
We stopped by here on a Sunday evening, looking for a good wine bar. It didn't look too crowded, and advertised a selection of organic wines, so it seemed like a good bet.
The service was friendly enough. The wines they offer, however, are pretty weak bets. Especially given the increases in genuinely good wine bars in NYC and the Upper West Side, you can do much better than what this place has to offer.
Got my muffins back!.
I want to share how happy we are for the re-opening of this little store after they expanded.
I have been craving their muffins and coffee (best in the UWS) for a couple of weeks. It's great to have more seating space to enjoy their food. I bring my kids with me and it's a like being with family.
Thanks Arte around the corner.
The Mood was rude ,so we didn't stay for the Food. We concur with remarks by some of the other reviewers about the off-putting "vibe" you can get simply from entering into this place. We arrived one cold winter weeknight last year when Arte Cafe was sparsely populated and despite the fact that we are both cordial, presentable adults, we got a really strange and cool reception and were ushered indifferently (not consulted as to our preferences) to a second-rate table location -- away from the main dining/bar area. Based on the offhand " we're doing YOU a favor" treatment we experienced upon arriving, we figured out quickly that we'd probably get even poorer service while 'banished to Siberia' and decided to split rather than stay there with misgivings and witness a self-fulfilling prophecy. Haven't bothered to return, based on other recent reviews here.
Great Gift Baskets for the Holidays. Received a gift basket from Arte as a gift - wonderful selection of foods - delicious too - creatively packaged by a "talented" employee!!!
Grateful Upper West Side. This new gem on Columbus has been my stop everyday before work and sometimes on my way back. They have the best coffee and bake goods in the area (the muffins are a must try) and the service is very affable. The items offered change periodically so I always find something new and they have very creative options to the so boring chicken and salad that you find eveywhere. If you need grocery they have a whole line of hard to find Italian stuff. I love it!
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Carry-out espresso bar serving gourmet items that include croissants, muffins, cake and panini.
Lovely shop. If you're looking for a gourmet treat or something special to stock your kitchen (and you don't want to be knocked over at Fairway) try this tiny place. They are friendly and knowledgeable. Some of the oils I haven't seen anywhere else.
