“The decor was nice, and the drinks were creative & good (although probably not worth the price).”
“expensive small drinks, but they were good”
“They have a great snack menu try the fity fity martini and the trout devilled eggs.”
“Once I explained to the waitress that I couldn't really find something that interested me, or more so that I was in the mood for on the menu- than the three drinks I already had, the cocktail waitress made note of my prior choices and sent me a classic co”
“went on a Thursday which was great, but I imagine this place must be pa-acked on weekends.”
“there are busier places that have much better service (employees only, milk & honey, angel's share, east side co. bar, temple bar) -- so i have no reason to go back to the snooty pegu club.”
“But I will advise - I tried to ask the bartender a little bit about their unique and not-so-intuitive drinks and he was completely rude!”
“The drinks are slightly pricey, but given the time and care they are made with it is well worth it.”
“The service was slow, and the waitress did not check on our table regularly.”
The first and most important of all the great New York craft cocktail lounges, Pegu still packs them in, and delivers the mixological goods at the elite level for which it is justly famous. The house cocktail is a big winner.

Sadly, most of us have no idea what we've been missing in the cocktail world. Did these mixologists team up with NASA? Because one sip of anything here and you are orbiting towards the moon. Who would have thought raw egg could be so smoooooth?
Great drinks, great vibe. I have been wanting to go to Pegu for quite some time and finally did so on Saturday night. The drinks and atmosphere definitely lived up to our expectations. It was nice to see a cocktail list of mature combinations instead of the typical fruity, sweet concoctions so common today. We sampled a few appetizers - highly recommend the crabcakes. The lighting was fabulous, the music was chill. We caught a little bit of an attitude from the hostess at first because we asked to sit at a reserved table to grab a couple of drinks before heading elsewhere for dinner. It was 6:30 and the table was reserved for 10pm. After assuring her that we would not be staying for more than an hour or two she relaxed. Our waittress was a bit unfriendly but perhaps she was nervous or new. Overall, we were impressed with our visit. I will definitely make my way back to Pegu in the future.
Great service, Best Drinks in Manhattan. I went to the infamous Pegu Club on a Saturday night not too long ago. It is a very fun, crowded atmosphere and I did enjoy myself but I was look for something a little more romantic. I went back a week or two later on a Sunday for an early evening cocktail and it was the best experience. Our waitress was very polite, attentive and gave my wife and I the best suggestions. My wife had the Champagne Apricato and it is all she talks about now to all of her friends. Their varient of the Dark and Stormy is awesome as well. Usually when I think of having a good time during the week, Sundays do not come to mind. But, Thanks to the Pegu Club, it is my favorite day to drink! Saturdays are booming but Sundays are just right.
Elegant, attentive service, a bit pricey.
Much more elegant than the usual Drink Club locations. I was a bit worried, walking through the spooky lower door up into the hyperworld of the club. The City Search reviews complained about snobby service, and snooty attitudes. The worries were unfounded. The staff was great. When I walked in, a smiling maitress d' showed me to a table for 6... all by myself. She let me sit there for as long as it took for everyone else to show up. Waitresses, all attractive, wearing something that looked like an exotic bathrobe, were quick on the menus, order taking, and keeping up with the smiles. They didn't fret if we messed up our orders or forgot the names of the exotic cocktails the place is known for.
I had a Whiskey Smash... and it did the trick. Everyone else ordered something strange... some good, some cucumber. We had so-so satay, and great "Sloppy Duck." The portions were small for the price ($15 for 2 Whitecastle size servings of Duck), but carefully prepared. The night cost us about $40 each. High, but not deadly. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers.
Awesome drinks and food!. I love this place. The cocktails are great and the bartenders know there stuff. I had a great time there but the service needs to improve in speed and the music needs improvement as well. Food was a great surprise.
Nice night. I went to Pegu over the weekend with some friends and had a very good time. It was very busy but we were able to talk to the bartender and he explained the menu and we decided to try some new drinks. We had an elderflower drink which was very light and really yummy! My friend had something called a Serendipity (I forget what's in it), but I had a sip and that was great as well. The bartenders behind the bar were really down to earth and friendly. Over all a really nice night. We'll be back in, no doubt.
terrible service, gone downhill. i went to this place a few times last year, and the service was pleasant w/ great drinks. HOWEVER, i went back on a recent busy saturday night, and while waiting for a table at the bar, the bartenders COMPLETELY IGNORED US. everyone else at the bar had a drink, but we waited for 10 minutes, sitting on stools at the bar, and no drinks, not even a quick acknowledgment of our presence. we decided to leave, and the hostess stopped us and told us our table was ready. but when we told her why we were leaving, she just smiled and said "sorry!" what made this situation worse was that the manager was behind the bar the whole time and didn't lift a finger to serve us either. there are busier places that have much better service (employees only, milk & honey, angel's share, east side co. bar, temple bar) -- so i have no reason to go back to the snooty pegu club.
Completely unwarranted attitude.. I'd love to comment on the drinks but we never got any. We waited for 15 minutes at the bar and were completely ignored by the bartenders. It's right on Houston and anyone can walk in, so I don't understand the attitude. Milk & Honey is far more difficult to get into (secret phone number, false tailor storefront, strictly appointment only) and the staff are extremely helpful and attentive.
Best cocktails and bar food in the city. I think this place has the best cocktails and bar food in the city. The bartenders and wait staff really know the cocktails and make great recommendations for those who are new to cocktails who need advice on what to choose. The service can be a bit slow on the really crazy busy nights but this should be expected a bit and otherwise the service is very courteous and efficient.
Very nice evening. Checked the reviews here before trying Pegu Club this past weekend, almost didn't go because so many people had described rude staff... But our evening couldn't have been more pleasant. The hostess was cheerful and nice, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks, the cocktails were sublime, and even the food was good (although don't expect large portions). The music was unobtrusive enough to let us chat comfortably, and it was sort of a world music sound--the person who complained about Billy Joel tunes was definitely there on a different night!
Amazing drinks, but Disgusting place!. I love going to Pegu Club for their gin inspired martinis, especially the Earl Grey Marteani and the mojito, Gin-Gin Mule. However my experience yesterday will probably stop me from returning. My friend and I spotted a R A T walk across the floor near the table right of ours! We then saw it again the second time. We were horrified and informed the manager, but he pretended to search for it then disappeared without even apologizing. I've been to numerous bars/lounges in the city ranging from trendy to dive, but never ever experienced anything like this. Enter at your own risk!
