The Scene
The mahogany-paneled room, furnished with marble-topped tables and gleaming leather upholstery, feels like a study in an English manor house, though the loud, suited-up crowds are most certainly city slickers or Carlton Hotel guests. A stainless steel bar at the center adds modernity, while its overwhelmed keepers unfortunately set the service tone.

The Food
Both Doug Psaltis' new American menu and the waitstaff's service yo-yo between formality and casualness. A fancy dollop of fennel cream and flan-like salpicon enrich a buttery lobster soup, for example, while puny stone crab claws could have used some frills to distract from their mealiness. The luxurious presence of black truffles in the opulently comforting artisanal pasta--and its accompanying lid-lifting fanfare--contradicts its homey Pyrex serving dish. In fact, the abundance of tableside flourishes--from the aged balsamic sprinkled upon a side of crispy roasted artichokes to chocolate sauce artfully drizzled on profiteroles--may explain the often beleaguered service.

Went here with friends this weekend for brunch. I used to enjoy this place quite a bit, but really feel like it has gone down hill lately. The brunch was mediocre. I got the eggs with salmon and hollandaise on a jalapeno biscuit. The biscuit was rock hard and the sauce wasnt as good as I remembered. I'm disappointed because this place used to be on top of it's game. The service was a bit slow as well. Definitely not worth the money. I have had much, much better brunches in the area. I doubt we will go back.

Country Cafe could not have been better. Was one of the first to arrive and within 20 minutes the restaurant was packed. The prices are reasonable and the food was delicious, especially the mushroom casserole. You feel like you are in a little bistro somewhere in Europe. Everyone was so welcoming and nice, and the service is attentive but not overbearing. The waitress was very helpful in making recommendations. I can't wait to go back.

I am typically a hard one to please and I had to log on and share what a great time I had! Would highly recommend them. Food was excellent... very attentive staff!
