A perfect night starts with some Korean BBQ and a quick hop over to this place. Whether you're rehearsing for your next American Idol audition or simply getting drunk and making a fool of yourself, you will leave here buzzing with adrenaline. That, my friends, is why humans should do karaoke.
HORRIBLE! RUDE EMPLOYEES! AND EXPENSIVE. So we chose Duet 35 for a girls night out, and we were quite underwhelmed. The place is kind of bland, no atmosphere at all. We walked in and had to have our IDs checked (women 28-35) which I thought was a little goofy and unnecessary. Then we were given a small room, which again lacked atmosphere and was kind of uncomfortably small for 5 adults. And it was stifling hot.. took almost 30 minutes for them to adjust the temp (maybe it's a cheap plot to get u to buy their over-priced, small, weak drinks)? The music selection was great and the TV was a nice flat screen. The videos that accompanied the songs were mostly strange asian people running around (i.e not the real video, rather a strange bootleg version) but we laughed it off. Then we were interrupted mid-song by an employee who needed our drink menu to show another group (they only have 1 menu in this place!?!?) then , (note each room has a phone) we were called and given a 10 minute notice at the end, and exactly 10 minutes later we had an employee come to the room and basically make sure we didnt get one extra minute that we didnt pay for..so cheap! No "thank you", no smile just a "get out " look. Then paying the bill (note we had 9 drinks total and NO food and 3 hrs karoke) $200 ! ridiculous price. I examined the bill and noticed that they overcharged us for the room, and charged us for an extra person, The cashier looked so annoyed to have to expend the energy to change the bill. Then, as we tried to get our money together, I noticed her rolling her eyes at us. RUDE! esp when you are shelling out $175 to sing karoke! as we figured out our $, there were 4 employees standing uncomfortably close to us just staring. WTH! So yeah, the only fun we had was self made, and was barely provided by this karoke place. Save your money and go out to a bar or club. This place is a RIP OFF!
Best Karaoke. I reserved this place recently for my 23rd bday, I wanted to do something different and fun for everyone. So I booked this location before booking i had gone to several other karaoke spots i tell you honest truth they were all crappy and limited and expensive acting as if they were a comdey club with 2 drink minimum. Duet 35 was great we had a huge room it was very well equipped everything worked. We had a huge book to choose songs from which was a great selection they even had spanish in particularly reggeaton, Which was a huge plus for me. The staff was great never bothered us for one thing they just let us know that we had 10 mins left. They also have a great cool feature a phone in the room and you order anything you want from there. I reccomend this place highly we had a blast and will for sure return. Only downfall were that the drinks were watered down and you cant bring any from outside. Every else gets an A+.
Awesomeness at 3 am. I went last minute with a few of my friends. when we told them it was a friends birthday we were treated with some extras and even when we broke a glass, they handled everything with a smile. the privacy was excellent and cozy, the price was just right, and I can't wait to go back
We are coming back for everyone's birthday!!!. I booked a room for 10 people for my best friend's bachelorette party. When we got there, there was still another group there and we had to wait 10 minutes past our reservation time. But they gave us the extra 10 minutes at the end so there were no problems. We had a huge room with lots of room to dance and move around. We ordered chinese food from outside and they delivered straight to our room. The room was very clean. The song list was amazing...they had everything we wanted. We all agreed that we will all come back to Duet 35 for all of our birthday parties! What a great place and great experience!
Fun Times. I had a birthday party here. We had our own private room and you can bring food/snacks, so thats pretty awesome. And there a telephone in the room that puts you thru directly to the bar... how awesome is that!? It gets a little stuffy in the room sometimes if you have a crazy crowd. So ask them to keep the air on.
A perfect venue. An awesome place - the room was the perfect size for the 15 of us, the song selection is amazing, and drinks are reasonably priced. I will definitely come here again!
Fun times!. Duet 35 is great. After another establishment screwed up my reservation just days before the event (my sister's bachelorette party) Duet 35 was able to accomodate us easily. The room was great, song selection was great, nice staff, etc. We were having such a great time they were able to extend our room after moving some things around! I would definitely go here again.
Always reserve beforehand. Rule #1: Always make a reservation or you'll never get a room - even during daytime hours. In my experience, the daytime hours are especially busy because of the marathon price. Duet also has an amazing song selection and are quick to update their Japanese and English songs, particularly the Japanese. So if you're a J-music fan like myself, you won't be disappointed with Duet. Avoid ordering the food, however. Most of them are straight out-of-the-package junk food. If you want Pocky, buy it yourself before coming. Duet DOES allow outside food to be brought in. We've had picnics thanks to this policy! =D I do recommend the takoyaki, though - it's the only thing on the menu we'd order. Don't have too high expectations for the equipment, though. They're not the best you can find in the city.
Excellent for groups, vast song selection, reasonably priced - a great time!!. We had a group of about 15 family members in town over the holidays & ended up going here after our Christmas Day lunch. First off, as far a group activities in NYC on Christmas Day go, this was the most reasonably priced & attractive activity we could find (bowling & skating were soo $$$!). We had a room reservation at Karaoke Duet & they called us earlier in the day to let us know there would be a half hour delay & that they'd give us our first round of drinks free for any inconvenience - I thought that was very courteous. Once we were there, we were thrilled w/ our room - it had 2 mikes, tambourines, a disco ball & was comfortable. But mostly, they had such an impressively wide selection of songs, it was wonderful! The drinks were reasonably priced, the staff was nice, & it was a hoot to walk the halls & hear/see everyone else in their private rooms having an outstanding time. Everyone in our group had a BLAST, the smiles lasted for days!
Amazing song selection!.
I went here for my last birthday and had a blast!!!! They have all the best song selections, the rooms were clean and new. They had a bar available so that all of my guests could get drinks at their leisure. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Even when we went over our room reservation time, they let us stay an extra hour!
I had about 15 people come and everyone was able to enjoy themselves and sing their song choices. The drink prices and hourly rate were very good.
I highly recommend this for parties and/or just a fun night out any day of the week.
