Awful. We came here to meet friends for someone's bday. Security was ridiculous - to the point that I felt violated at the amount they felt you up! Once we got inside, we waited forever for unresponsive staff to give us EXTREMELY over-priced drinks - the bartender couldn't even remember the 3 drinks we told her because she was taking everyones orders at the same time, yet not filling them. They automatically add a large tip onto your bar tab which, in my opinion, was definitely NOT deserved. The crowd was pretty sleazy. One guy blatantly knocked a brand new full drink out of my hand and then hid behind his friends in the corner without an apology or god-forbid offering to buy a new one. The dance floor was crowded with creeps trying to rub up on you at every chance they got - gross - and the music selection was weird.. Overall, awful and I would never go back.
Worst B~day EVER!!!!. I got there @ 10pm, as my B~day ticket said "Doors open @ 10". Needless to say, no one was allowed in until almost 11pm. Let me remind you that it was EMPTY inside. Once we were inside, they search you like you were visiting @ Rikers. The promoter promised me a bottle, and of course we didn't see it. Some of my friend's that arrived later on at night wasn't given a discount, and they had to pay $30, which is more that the regular price, and for what? The music SUCKED. TECHNO, and weird music, not even TOP 40 was played. The drinks were WAAAAY toooo expensive. They were very selective on line, they only allow 99% undressed girls go in. The crowd were pretentious, obnoxious and TRASHY. I would never go back if they invited me back for FREE again!!! BTW what's up with their I kid you not $1,000 regular tequila bottle service? Great b~day? WORST B~day, thanks to SOL!!!!
Don't waste your money!!!!!. This club is horrible. I have been to several trendy hot spot nightclubs in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York, so I think I have a good Idea of what a reputable nightclub should be like. The guys at the door were extraordinarily rude. The security searched (groped) me and the girls I was with much worse than any airport security even would. Honestly I felt violated! The bar required you to repeatedly show your ID even if the doormen or another bartender or themselves had already checked it. It was so expensive and NOT worth it at all. OH and the crowd was filled with stuck up and jerky people. I am not going there ever again.
NICE CLUB BUT VERY EXPENSIVE!!!. I WENT THIS WEEKEND ON 9/21/07, FOR A FRIDAY NIGHT IT WAS PACKED LOT OF ATTRACTIVE MEN AND WOMEN.... FIRST THE LINE WAS LONG BUT I GOT IN AFTER FIFTEEN MINUTES...THEN WE HAD TO PAY THIRTY DOLLARS WHICH I FELT WAS PRICEY FOR BEING THAT IT'S A SMALL CLUB....IN ADDITION, THE DRINKS WERE PRICEY....HOWEVER, THE MUSIC WAS REALLY GOOD...THEY PLAYED EVERYTHING ALL NIGHT FROM HIP-HOP, SPANISH, REGGAE, FREESTYLE....FRIDAY IS THE BEST NIGHT AND THERE WASN'T ONLY LATIN PEOPLE LIKE THE PREVIOUS REVIEW SAID...THERE WAS MOSTLY LATIN BUT ALSO BLACK, WHITE, AND ALL RACES...SO I WOULD SAY IT'S A DIVERSE PLACE...FINALLY I WOULD MOS DEF GO BACK IF THEY CHANGED THE PRICES FOR WOMEN TO GET IN I WAS THERE LIKE TWO HOURS AND SPENT ALMOST A HUNDRED DOLLARS...
horrible!!. This place was horrible! i will never go there again!! the bouncers were rude! yeah i know they are there for our safety but i def would not want someone like them defending or protecting me! they have no regard!! it is overpriced! $20 to get in for a small place. You have to pay for parking-- $20. Thats $40 bucks right there! the drinks are expensive!! they are strong thats about it. the music was extremely loud. everyones ears were ringing! ridiculous! the guest list service was horrible! they screwed me over for my birthday and were rude about it!! they pat you down at the door which is cool but they feel u up at the same time! no need to touch my nipples! cant put anything there!!!! they ruined my birthday! it was horrible!!!! DO NOT GO THERE!
Great spot for a great night. Contrary to some of the other reviews this place is a great spot to party. The women are great, strong drinks, fun staff and safe environment. To those people who say bouncers are rude... remember they have a job to do and they are there for YOUR saftey, patience and respect really goes a long way. The management of this place really tries hard to make sure that everyone has a good time. Drinks are reasonably priced and super strong, take care of the bartenders and they will take care of you. If you want to have a worry free good time SOL is the place to be.
Good & Bad. Let me just start out by saying that the only reason we went to this club was because the other club on the street (Stereo) didn't let me in because of the shirt I was wearing. I think it was more than my shirt (maybe my height and skin color). Oh well, back to Sol. We went on a Friday night and I think it was Latin night, because everyone in there were Latino. At least, people complimented me on my shirt! The DJ was very annoying. I don't like being broken outaa my groove to listen to him, but the music was great. The only thing I didn't like was that the club started poppin at like 130am...That is kinda ridiculous! Our group was the only one dancing for at least an hour. Good overall, diverse (except for it being Latin night). Beautiful ladies, and I mean beautiful! Check it out for yourself, is all I can say.
worst nyc club. as soon as you get to the door the people that work there are idiots and don't know how to do their job, the same person checked our ID's about 2-3 times in a matter of minutes. Then u get inside and the bouncers don't know what they're doing, i think a prerequisite for being a bouncer here is trying to make yourself feel better by being rude and stupid to everyone who is trying to have a good time. Get a real job. Then at the very end of the night, we are standing on the coatcheck line putting on our coats and one of the bouncers grabs my boyfriend and throws him out. I guess you're not allowed to stand on the coat check line when the club is closing????????? Again, trying to make their job better i guess by throwing random people out who were leaving anyway, don't go here, the place s u c k s
SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN IMMEDIATELY!.
What Happened To New York's Nightlife? It was taken over by amateur hole-in-the walls like Sol.
If you feel like coughing up 700 bucks for 2 bottles of alcohol that can be bought at your corner store for 50 bucks-come on down! Grossly overcharging people in their twenties and thirties who are barely making ends meet is obscene.
Any city-dweller will tell you to avoid nightclubs like this on Friday and Saturday nights...Who can you expect to see there? Gotti Brother wannabes with their Gel-crisped hair and shirttails hanging unceremoniously out of their "Levi's"...Jersey Girls trying to pose as City Chicks donning fright-night corsets, size zero tight-rolled jeans grinding on each other (usually offbeat) to the jackhammering techno being played by the Amateur DJ who uses his Ipod instead of true Vinyl to try and 'rock the party'.
And if you're a person of color, you need not even waste your time. Not only will you stand out amongst the non-diverse clientele...but you're treated as a 'suspect' from the moment you arrive. Staff is hesitant to aid you, even if you're being victimized...and as soon as anything goes wrong, you can best believe you will be booted out of there no matter what.
Not even people that are into "techno" would appreciate the music played at this place. The thundering jackhammering didn't do anything to animate the lackluster crowd, more concerned with guzzling any alcohol that could be consumed than dancing.
New York City's charm used to be its diversity of crowds converging to have a good time...Nightlife was always on the cutting edge and everyone was welcome.
Sol can only be seen as the death of that ideal.
WORST OVERPRICED CLUB EVER. My friends and I went here for the Assteria party last weekend and it was HORRIBLE. They charged a $40 cover, mandatory coatcheck, THE DRINKS WERE TINY AND SO EXPENSIVE and it was dead. Then we left and came back and it was a little more crowded and they closed the place down at 4am when Assteria is an afterhours party. It was HORRIBLE- I will never go there again, oh and they overcharged me on my tab.
