BEST IF YOU WANT TO HAVE FUN AND MEET SOME NEW PEOPLE. SATURDAYS ARE THE BEST BUT IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE CROWD YOU SHOULD GO ON A THURSDAYS OR FRIDAYS AND A LOT OF ALBUM RELEASE PARTIES ARE HELD THEIR. ITS GREAT OVER ALL!!
AWFUL!!. I made a guest list for my birthday at Sol. When I spoke to the promoter on the phone he assured me that everyone would be able to get in and wouldn't have to wait on line. When I got there even I had to wait on line. The bouncers were completely and unnecessarily rude. They even had the nerve to tell me that I couldn't talk to my friends that were in line when I went outside. In addition, they were completely disorganized. One bouncer would say one thing then the promoter would say another. They were as rude in the club as outside. I don't know where they came off acting like they were doing me a favor by letting me in because the place wasn't anything great. The music ok and there was no dance floor. What club doesn't have a dance floor! I don't know how they got a rep b/c there was NOTHING about the club from the service to the music to the place itself that would lead me to even call it average. In two words....It sucked. I've been to plenty of exclusive clubs and I've never been treated so badly or thought a club was so crappy.
absolute worst place in nyc without comparison. I have never had such a bad experience at a club in nyc before. Threw a party for my g/f and had a guestlist assembled prior with the club staff. Half of my friends could not get in and were actually asked to get out of line. When trying to purchase a bottle was given the runaround and eventually made me stand at the bar with the bottle after paying $300. Coat check was $8. R U serious? reduced admission while being on a guest I created while attending with my g/f whose bday it was was $20?! Went outside to make a phone call b/c it is hard to hear and bouncer said only for smoking i cannot make a phone call i must leave or go back in?! Friend could not get in so they said buy a bottle but no just a bottle oh it was a 2 bottle minimum! avoid at all costs dont embarrass yourself in front of your friends buy choosing the most unprofessional wannabe hot spot in all of nyc! I hope they get shut down. You would have more fun on a friday night at home twidling your thumbs while on traquilizers and jack daniels than going here.
Go here if you like getting insulted !!!!. My friends and I were on a guestlist for a birthday party. We were 4 girls and 3 guys. After waiting for 45 mins in line, the bouncers were not only very rude they also asked us to step out of line for no reason. They acted as if they were doing a favor by allowing anyone in. Even on request of the birthday girl, they said only 3 people out of 7 can get in. When we tried to explain that we were together, they pushed us out !!!!. I would never ever go there again and you can go there only if you want to be embarrased and insulted by some rude bouncers..... Clearly not a classy or a upscale joint at all. I would not recommend hosting any parties here,as no matter what they promise they will embarrass your guests.... stay away, there are better places in NYC.
Good Music Horrible Bouncers. Got on line around 1045 and was at the front rope by 1130. My group of friends consisted of 5 guys and 3 girls and the bouncer wouldn't let us in because we had too many guys. He said that we had to wait and proceeded to let in only single females and couples. The guest list closed at midnight but since we didn't get into the club til 12:03 we had to pay the full cover. Upon entering, the club wasn't even full. The snobbish bouncers hold the lines to make it seem more exclusive. The music was just okay, nothing special there. Drinks were decent but overly priced. This place is too hyped up. If you're planning on going, expect long lines and rude bouncers. If the number of guys in your group outnumbers the girls... don't even bother.
Right where you want to be. In 5 different nights, each crowd had a different general makeup, but one similarity - high energy, comfortable fun. Unobstructed sightlines, easy access to waitstaff and elbow room (even when the house is full), Sol is where your posse should make its home. Bottle service is the way to go and the booths have room for 10. There were more of singles, pairs and threesomes than groups. The atmosphere is very liberal, girl-patrons sometimes dancing atop the main bar. The young, refreshingly good-looking crowds seemed very knowlegeable; management gets A-list superstars and the house DJ is probably the best in the city. The only downside (for lounges in general) for more dance floor space; however, there's enough room to dance in or near the booths, which makes it all the more intimate. In all, this club/lounge is one of the best experiences I've had at any club and great value.
fun if you go in with no friends. After reading all the enthusiastic reviews about SOL i was eager to check it out on a sat. night. My group of 3 females and 4 males waited in line for 30 minutes. Upon showing ID the bouncer told us, 'now ain't no way none of these fellas are gettin in! That is the policy ALL night but feel free to check us out next week. Theres a special situation goin on and we can only let in single girls or couples'. Needless to say none of us will be going back to check out this spot. Who's to say there won't be another 'special situation' and that we won't have to waste another hour waiting in line for this pretentious spot. And the funny thing is, upon leaving, all the people who actually got into the club were leaving too because it was empty. Was that the special situation???
User review by prettybitty. ialso think its really funny bc all the other reviews on this page are by users who have never reviewed anything else. ten bux says that sol creates fake names and tries to make themselves cool. dont bother. they're not.
I loved it. I went to Sol last saturday, and I was suprised because everyone said it was all house music, but they have hip hop and rock on Saturday nights. The space was really nice, my girls liked it a lot. Drinks were good, a little expensive but standard new york. I really like the booths. And the DJ rocked! I dont know who it is but we are definitely going back...the music was fantastic. My friends went there on a Friday night and also commented that the DJ's were excellent...we like to dance!
Great spot for a mixed crowd. Went to Sol 2 weeks ago on a Sat night and it was the first time I ever enjoyed myself at a straight up NYC club. Design is almost perfect...separate, raised dance floor, big leather couches throughout where you can actually sit segregated w/ people you know, good music, and friendly bartenders. Wish they had more than 1 bathroom though (as far as I saw, at least). Having a private lounge space where you don't have to scream to hear each other would make this place perfect (oh, and more bathroom space).
