Editorial Review for Ellie Herman Studios – by Lynn Suhrie

In Short
Personal attention is the hallmark of this beginner-friendly studio as much as Ellie Herman's signature equipment. Newbies get their feet wet with a private initial meeting and small classes limited to four or six participants--and by the time the eight-week session is up they've developed sea legs. Take it outside with the Herman-developed Walk-ilates, using specially designed shoes (sold on the premises) to help alleviate pain, reduce cellulite and promote balance while walking.

I was new to pilates, and have fallen in love with it through my experience at Ellie Herman. The instructors are all very good, informed, attentive and friendly; I've worked with Denise, Shabs, and Devona (there are others too). Each one has her own style, so try a couple of different classes until you find your fit. This may be the only place where you can use a reformer in a class setting since they have 4 of them. My husband and I take a class once a week and find it a great way to spend an hour together. More men need to try pilates!

Pros: Knowledgeable staff; reasonable rates

Cons: Peak class times may be sold out

Everyone here is very friendly, and always very personable. You start out with a beginner intake session with a trainer and then are able to join a class that suits your needs. I would strongly reccomend Tara, as she has really helped me progress quite quickly. Always feel great after going; a great way to unwind your body after a week of sitting in the office.

Pros: Individual Attention, Friendly, Skilled Instructors

Cons: Heavy Front Door :)
