Really fun little place that's become a staple for me & friends. – Good mix of the lounge and dance vibe. There are some perfect cozy window seats on either end of the U-loop where you can actually have a conversation. In contrast, the dj'd space in the back tends to turn into an uninhibited dance party.
The drinks are well priced and surprisingly strong.
comedy alternative – can someone tell me if they're really having ted alexandro? I payed $40 to see him at a comedy club once
Surprisingly good comedy – They have one of the best comedy shows I've seen on Thursday nights - especially for being outside of the clubs. And cheaper drinks!
Something different: indy comedy night – I love Lounge 87 for it's music, barstaff and atmosphere. plus they have killer dj's. but they are bringing something totally new to the table. On Thursdays starting 6/26, they are doing an Indy comedy night at 8 pm. The first show features Ted Alexandro and Steve Hofstetter, among others. There is a website for the show, not sure if its the the bar's site or the show's site, it's thursdaycomedy . com
the site has all of the showtimes and future rosters
Saturday doesn't have to be belligerent. – If you've can't get enough of frat boys and loud, drunken obnoxious asshats who all want to live hip vicariously by falling all over the scrawny, confused hipster wannabes who are trying to get a glimpse of some tambourine player they saw a picture of on LiveJournal, try many of the nice bars north of Delancey on Ludlow.
On the other hand, if you aren't a douchebag and want to get away for a bit, venture a few feet south of Delancey to 87 bar. The drinks are cheap. The bartenders are friendly. There is a patio in the back. And on 'No-Douchebag Saturdays,' gorgeous DJ Eliza Emma (of Monday night Starf*ck fame) brings down the hammer on gold chains and Polo shirts bursting with chest hair playing a douchebag-repelling mix of 80's rock, new wave and modern post-punk favorites.
The Jump Off – Between the cheap drinks, the great bartenders and the artwork on walls. This bar/lounge is truly an undiscovered treasure of the Lower East Side. A blend of hip modern culture with a flare not normally found in the lower east side.
revie from chicken and jack – Drinks are cheap, best jack shots in the world! even have jack and lime shots heance the reason i am there every friday. great spot!
G.O.O.D. – A nice place where everyone can get to know your name. Extremely friendly bartenders and owners make this place a fav 'chill spot'. Not too crowded sometimes, but other times you need to ask people to move so you can walk to the other side of the bar. Cheap drinks, very hip music and cool lighting make this place very easy to get drunk in. cool beans.
Coming along – Been here twice over the weekend and I'm really feeling this place. Great music and the bartender is very cool. Hope to go back soon and see if it keeps up.
Editorial Review – Bi-level spot features casual bar with specialty cocktails on top and dance lounge on bottom available for private parties.
