Editorial Review for Novo--CLOSED – by Kathleen Squires

The Scene
Eclectic nightlifers, Latin food lovers, and curious neighborhood folks mingle in the railroad-style, wood- and stone-trimmed space. A tall communal table dominates the front room and a long bar stretches to the dining area garnished with an open kitchen and floral wall projections. The DJ's pulsations become more prominent as the evening goes on.

The Food
Chef Alex Garcia adds his signature Nuevo Latino spin to a tasty tapas-oriented menu. Lobster chunks blend perfectly with the springy egg pie in the texturally triumphant tortilla Espanola; and mint, lime, cucumber and red pepper lend octopus seviche a tantalizing sweet, spicy, and cool kick. Selections of simply grilled meat and fish come with a choose-your-own-adventure trio of salsas--a zesty garlic pepper blend, a salty olive chimichurri and velvety manchego fondue. Cannelloni stuffed with ground pork and dressed with a brandy cream sauce particularly exemplifies the out-of-the-ordinary tastes found at this out-of-the-way place.

I went on a Friday night had fun. Hip Hop and R&B, pleeeeeeenty of hot guys, tables for bottle service , but the dance floor was packed. I almost forgot the most important part.....they have free parking!!! Nice spot to start or end with.

Pros: free parking, good drinks, good music, tables

Cons: small dance floor

Great spot to end up at on a lonely Friday night... You'll find other lonely hip NY'rs nodding their head to the same beats. Don't know about the food... didn't eat that night. Drinks were good and tasty. Must check out.
