Average meals and poor service. Last friday, i went there for a business lunch. The ambiance was great and the location extraordinary.

But i can only conclude the reputation is very hype! Waiting too long for a poor service.

We don't ask extravagant things: Just pepper... and water for our tea! Imagine that; you pay more than a hundred bucks for a lunch and no one care about you.

I supposed normally clients must bring their hot water? We quit the Bobby Van's Steakhouse with deceptions.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I live across the street so went there for lunch. We ordered porter house and filet mignon. They were both so overcooked and dry that it was disgusting to even attempt to swallow!!!! When I brought it up to our waiter, he was not only condescending, but rude and ignorant!!!! He said it's supposed to be like that and that's how they are normally served!!!! It's either the waiter needs to get TRAINING!!! or they need to get a new chef!!!! I will never go back there and been advising everyone in my building to not waste their time and money here! It's a shame as our building is literally outside their restaurant.

Exceptional Food, Staff, and Ambiance!. I have been going to Bobby Vans for years and this location is their best by far. I had to write this review as we went there for my husbands birthday with a few friends tonight. From the moment we walked in the staff was wonderful. They gave us a perfect table, they recommended a fantastic Merlot, and we had the best time. It was one of the best evenings out we had in a long time.. We closed the place down and the staff did not make us feel rushed at all..they actually told us to take our time!! I must say bravo and we look forward to coming back. Did I mention the food is incredible..you must have the tuna tartar, chilean sea bass, and ofcourse the steak...all are delicious!! FYI:This review is about the main restaurant and not the vault downstairs.

A joke..... Went there last week. Borderline laughable. Ordered the sirloin, medium rare and asked the waiter how big it was. He said 20 oz.. I got a medium well steak that was maybe 10 oz.. Hash browns were OK but asparagus was boiled/steamed to death. Outback is better.

Cool venue but.... Had lunch here last week and was quite disappointed. The venue is very cool...downstairs in the old JP Morgan vault. Very clubby and warm - the perfect Wall-Streeter-beef-eater type setting. Service was efficient and pleasant. However, the food was rather disappointing. Ordered the $27 filet mignon - it was tough and not perfectly cooked to a medium rare. I'm fairly certain the skimpy portion of steak fries went from the freezer, to the fryer, to my plate. Also included were peas that were, well, just peas. My colleague asked to substitute mashed potatoes for fries and was denied. They were brought as a side for $7. My draft MIller Lite (I know, I know) tasted skunk - cleary their tap lines haven't been flushed recently! Perhaps an off day...I'm not sure. But $130 later (lunch for 3)...not sure I'll be back.

Select spot for bull-market beef binges.. In Short
Suits with expense accounts like the convenient location of this venerable steakhouse chain--just a stone's throw from Wall Street, and across the street from the New York Stock Exchange. The wall of wine, classy mahogany wainscoting and quality steaks and seafood makes the upper level ideal for schmoozing clients; while the burgers and lobster rolls of the more casual "bank vault" downstairs works for a casual bite with co-workers.

A welcome addition to the Wall Street area. I'm an old fan of Bobby Van's Steakhouse. I've been eating at the midtown location regularly for about 9 years. This new downtown branch is a welcome addition to the downtown area. The food is very good. Steaks & fish are excellent, but the side dishes are sometimes dissapointing (undercooked veggies, lumpy creamed spinach). But they keep getting better each time I visit (10 times since it opened). The service is friendly and efficient. The ambience is very NY steakhouse - brassy and noisy as you'd expect. I'm partial to the downstairs "vault" room, which used to be a gigantic bank vault and still has much of the original vault doors, drawers, and steel ceiling. The fare is lighter than upstairs, as are the prices.

Great new downtown restaurant. Great food, excellent service. Went in first after work with friends, and back a second time on a date. Steakhouse prices- but definitely worth it for the quality and atmosphere. Huge wine list. The Grill downstairs is very cool- not to be overlooked!
