they tried to rip us off. The food was acceptable, but was so over priced - think almost double what you would pay at Abigail's.

Then items were brought to our table which we did not order and the waiter tried to argue when we dared protest. Then they tried to charge us for these items!!!. They added on a VERY high service charge to the bill (and the service was not that great - I had to ask twice for them to replace the stale bread rolls). They even overcharged us on the Tax!!!

There are so many other great restaurants in NY thank G-D and there is no need to go to one that is overpriced and tries to steal from you.

Overpriced with Service and Credit Card Issues. I had a friends party of 7 there. The service was slow and unprofessional. Food was overpriced and poor tasting. Worst of all, I was ripped off on my bill. The total was $1400 ($1200 + $200 Gratuity). When I gave my credit card to pay the bill the waiter asked if I can leave the tip in cash. I did him that favor despite the obnoxiousness of asking and bad service. The next day I looked at my credit card statement online and I was charged the full $1400. I called them back and explained that I left $200 in cash which wasn't reduced from the bill, but they consistently said we'll look into it and have someone call you back (obviously nobody ever called). It's been over a month and still waiting on a call back.

Be aware!. This restaurant could make anyone go to Mcdonalds for better food. This was my worst Kosher experience and I'll never go again. The food was dry and bland, the energy was just not right. The service was slow, we waited for an hour until our food was served. Spend your money elsewhere. Nasty!

For that special occasion. I saw the following review on a kosher blog, The Kosher Scene, and decided to try it after seeing the photos.

The prices were not cheap, but the ambiance, the service, the food were well worth it. I will be back, even if - with those prices - it will be far less frequent than weekly.

over charged my credit. restaurant over charged my credit card by hund. of $$$ for months have been trying to resolve and the manager has been avoiding the phone! never again!!!

Kosher steaks, sushi and sausage add up to a culinary diaspora.. The Scene
Attracting a mix of Midtown business folk, sushi seekers and kosher food lovers, La Carne Grill strives for a similar pastiche in its decor. In the main dining room, warm brick and fresh flowers compete with a flat-screen TV and lamps appropriate to a corporate meeting room. Upstairs, sushi chefs work in an open balcony. Service is friendly, if a touch rushed.

The Food
The glatt kosher steakhouse also dips into French and Italian fare, and even devotes a full menu to sushi. Best bets include the herby lamb sausage starter and the tender hangar steak, perfectly drenched with a bernaise sauce so creamy, you'd never guess it's soy based. The net may be cast too wide, however. Gummy pasta and rice undermine duck ravioli and a mango-topped sushi roll, respectively, and the prime reserve steak has a tough, brisket-like quality. For dessert, the raspberry gratine, a triumphant tower of tart berries and champagne sabayon.

Great Place, great food.. I went there with my wife, it is a place for me to come back to, more and more. We have ordered steak and appetizers and a nice bottle of wine. Amazing atmosphere.

Best Kosher Restaurant!. This is by far the best kosher restaurant I have ever been in. The ambiance is superb, the wait staff is wonderful, and you couldn't ask for a better steak. The sushi is amazin; you have to have it. I recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone

User review by foodgal57. we were promptly seated when we arrived at LCG, however we sat at our table without menus for almost ten minutes, when the restaurant was only half full. The waiter let us know the specials of the evening and one of the individuals in our party ordered the special. The most expensive item on the menu was $56 - this special (consisting of one course) was $75 and the waiter neglected to mention that fact - a must if the special is that much more expensive than the most expensive menu item. I won't be back.

Our big Passover disappointment!. After eating at the Prime Grill in NY and FL as well as many other fine Kosher restaurants we selected La Carne for a Passover treat after reading some reviews. We couldn't be more disappointed. Other than the service, it was a horrible experience.

The steaks were dry, presentation was severely lacking on plastic dishes and the salad was tasteless. While we realize it is Passover, either don't open or don't charge $41 for a dry, tasteless filet or publish a disclaimer that the diner should beware of Passover.

But then again, what does Passover have to do with not being able to serve a good steak?!
