love ben brown's massages!.
I can't say enough about my experience at bliss 49. I have been here over 5 times and love everything about it. The customer service is first class and the people who greet you at the front desk really take the time to be personal and want to make your experience pleasurable.
I have had 4 massages here, 2 with Ben Brown and 1 with Laura Ann and 1 with Mikel. They were all beyond anything I've ever experienced.
My latest massage was the Rhythm and Bliss massage with Ben where you wear noise cancelling head phones and the massage goes to the beat of the music. This service was written up in the NY Times, so I gave it a whirl. It put me in such a relaxed state! I chose the World sountrack and it was tribal beats and a mix of other music. I really enjoyed it. I want to go back and try the Rock music mix.
The lounge here at bliss 49 is totally comfortable and I really enjoy the brownie bites (nice touch!) and peppermint tea to chill out to. I could hang here all day long!
Thank you bliss for your consistent service and amazing technitians! I refuse to go anywhere else!
biggest waste of money. I went here to get a Brazilian. It totaled just under $74 before leaving cash tip. The waxer was nice and the room seemed fairly clean minus the floor. There was also very little pain. However, they did not remove all the hair or even make an attempt to. Very disappointed in such horrible service. Do not waste your money here.
Nice ambiance, weak massage.
I got the rubber neck massage, which was mediocre. The hot wax is ineffective, and a bit of a gimmick - if you have neck / shoulder pain or knots, this won't really do much for it. It also takes up about 20 minutes out of the hour.
My masseuse was good about asking where my trouble spots were, but unfortunately, she had long fingernails that kept digging into my neck every time she pressed hard. Needless to say, it wasn't very relaxing.
On the plus side, I did get there an hour early to enjoy the steam room, nice products and showers, and the brownie bar and lounge.
Overall, not a terrible experience, but overpriced and overhyped for the actual quality of massage.
The best facial ever, thanks Ivana!. Ivana gave me the best facial that I have ever had. In the past I've had facials from my dermatologist office, various day spas. Every step of the treatment was great, massage for face, head, neck, back and feet, deep cleaning, hydrating and relaxing. She is very friendly along with being very skilled . She recommended a product to use at home. The product really worked!!! Everyone said my skin was radiant. The best facial ever, thanks Ivana!
are they estheticians or salespeople?. I've been to some of the best (Charleston Place and Crescent Court in Dallas) spas. I had high hopes for Bliss49. I worked out in the gym beforehand - the teeniest gym. They offer memberships... why?! It's part of the Whotel gym. It's your basic hotel gym: a few bikes, few treadmills, some machines (no arm machines, but there are weights). The women's locker room is ok (has supplies - lotions, towels). It was crowded, but it was also a Saturday. Sauna is good... relaxing, hot enough, clean. What I was there for, though, was a "Dew Diligence" facial. I don't want to bash the esthetician (don't want to mention her name. it's probably their job to push products), but within a few minutes of me laying down, she's telling me how weak the facial is, and I need to add-on services... two to be exact. One cost $55, the other $25. I admit, I'm awful at saying no to sales pitches, but I didn't think I'd have to deal with a sales pitch in the spa room, along with the fact that I'm wearing nothing under the sheet, my eyes are covered with a towel, and the only thing I'm hearing is this woman who's telling me how much I need the add-ons. Hesitantly I said yes... and I'm trying to justify in my mind how my $120 facial turned into $200. The room was bright. There was a lamp with 5 bulbs in the corner. The room was near the receptionist, so I could hear several conversations while I'm trying to relax. The service itself was fine. But I've had better facials at Charleston Place and Ohm Spa (in NYC - the best). When you're paying $200 for a facial, it needs to be better than fine. I want to give Bliss another chance (will try 57 or SoHo). My message you: BEWARE OF PUSHY ESTHETICIANS A.K.A. SALESPEOPLE! When you go in for a service, be aware they'll try to sell you an add-on or leave a product for you to buy when you checkout. And they'll try and talk you into it, while you're wearing nothing under a sheet. Eek! Unless you want to spend some extra $, be prepared to just say no.
Great Wax. I've been to Bliss for their waxing and waxing only- they use Poetic Wax- which is less painful and irritating to the skin-I have extremely sensitive skin so I love Bliss for this reason- but this location always makes me wait at least 15 minutes for my wax, so it's never a quick in and out thing- it usually takes 30-40 minutes for a 5 minute appointment...so if you go make sure you have nothing scheduled for after your quick wax!
Best Brazilian Wax by Tess. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and was hesistant to get a brazilian wax. This was my 2nd time back at Bliss 49 for a full monty job and I love 'em! They're very clean...both technicians never double dipped the used wooden spatula into the wax. A fresh spatula was used for each application. Both technicians were great but Tess was my absolute fav. She had quick hands and she did not rush the job. She worked on small patches and it was essentially painless. I hate it when they apply large batches of wax to finish the job quicker but it hurts like hell when the pull. I've being doing the brazilian wax for 6 years and I've been to many many places...from hi end spas that charges $80 to cheapie nyc nail salon for $30 bucks. And Bliss is absolutely worth the $70 fee.
anastasia for brazilians!. Anastasia gives a great brazilian. She is quick, which is key and makes the wax as painless as possible. I would highly recommend her for this service as i've had another waxer and she was nice but the process was more painful because she didn't have as quick of a hand. Overall the spa is nice, clean and the staff is accomodating.
Worst change of nail polish , good brazilian.
The lady that did my nail polish did not accept that the color was not even, she even said that the color would go off anyway and not precisely where i wanted to correct it (?) I think she does not see well , but why has the customer to suffer from...it
the chairs are not confy and i dont think its worth the money
The brazilian was great and painless, and the lady was really nice, confortable to be with etc her name is Antoaneta and yes, she is a professional
