Editorial Review for Bookmarks – by Karen Hudes
In Short
This intimate, rooftop lounge--distinguished by a working fireplace and enhanced by dark wood walls, low lighting and comfy club chairs--attracts a neatly casual clientele that's more literary-minded than the typical hotel crowd. French doors open onto a slate terrace, inviting to small after-work groups with blue-cushioned U-shaped benches. In addition to wines, microbrews and specialty cocktails, the bar serves panini, olives and other snacks to keep the conversation flowing.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoBeware the after-work onslaught, which can ruin cozy, close quarters with elbow-to-elbow crowds. If you plan on stopping by in the early evening, call ahead to find out if they're busy.
Outdoor SeatingThe open-air terrace remains glass-enclosed and heated in the winter.

This is a wonderful bar in the GC area that's not overrun by the after work stalkers! A great place for meeting a certain somebody incognito, meeting a date or relaxing. The staff is friendly and don't rush you out. The outside is great when it's warm and the inside is actually bigger than you think. The only negative is that there is one bathroom that you have to go up a flight of stairs to get to and is not part of the bar at all.
Pros: atmosphere, location, intimacy
Cons: bathrooms

My first two visits were comfy,if not a bit scary. The staff is overly, and somewhat aggressively attentive: I stood to look for the restroom, and was confronted and 'directed' up the stairs. Aside from the beautiful setting and lovely fireplace, this place is hardly worth the high price of the syrupy drinks and rude, starchy service. Be aware that the staff will enforce a mandatory 20% gratuity on 4 or more people. For a hotel that charges so much for a room, you should expect more.
Pros: nice hotel, nice space
Cons: service, pricey drinks that were not that great
