In Short – Softly lit brick walls and supple Latin music welcome sophisticated patrons for Abruzzian wine and espresso. More than 30 vintage and largely muscular choices from Italy and Spain--including a sparkling red lambrusco--are enjoyed along a concrete bar, window counter or at wooden banquets in the elevated dining area. In addition to coffee and wine, the bar serves a rich hot chocolate, and nightcaps of grappa, madeira and cognac.

Editor's Tips

On the Menu:
Pastries, crepes, fritatta and panini are served in the morning. Sheep, cow and goat cheeses, as well as fried lamb chops, wild boar prosciutto, spek and chorizo, enhance the dinner menu.

Unfortunately they've gone down hill

by bill83541 at Citysearch

My wife and I have been here close to 15 times. We live around the corner and really like the atmosphere and used to enjoy the food & wine. Last two times I've been the food has been a bit less than ok (had to send one dish back tonight), definitely not to NYC standards, but the real shocker is how bad the service is. The staff is friendly, and seem to know their stuff, but they disappear for long periods and seem to forget about you, even when its half empty. I brought 6 friends there the other night and by the end of the night my friends were making outright fun of the place.

I Tried it again with my wife tonight. We had to send one meal back and then they delivered me a glass of wine I ordered 20 minutes late (the check had already arrived in fact).

It's too bad. Nice place, and food used to be good. But they probably need to either change their manager or spend more time training their staff to bring it back. It's NYC and too many good restaurants to waste a night at this one especially in this area of the city, even if it has a cute wine feel to it. Let's hope they get it together before they close for good.

Good lunch, horrible dinner!

by AlexShown at Citysearch

I work in the area and like to go there for a lunch. It could be really busy and you'd better have more than 30 min lunch break. The food is good, the prises OK. Me and my girlfriend went there for a dinner and were really disappointed. Three different people have asked us about reservation, we've been waited a long time for out main course. And when we were leaving nobody asked if we had a nice time, but we have heard three "good bye"s. It felt more like being in a diner, than at the restaurant. Would not recommend this place for a nice romantic dinner.

Though I like the lunches, waiters are more friendly. Wish they quit changing the wait staff.

PS always a problem with bread.

  • Pros: Deserts!!
  • Cons: Service, long waiting time for food!

Authentic Italian food

by mmarotta at Citysearch

It is refreshing to find authentic Italian food in New York for Italian born New Yorkers. The menu offers not obvious choices and they are always in tune with latest food trend in Italy! Cheeses and desserts are great! Try "formaggio sotto cenere" and panzerotti, amazingly good!!!

Great Italian Dinner

by mereditheats at Citysearch

I stumbled across Tarallucci's after a long evening shopping with one of my friends after work. The restaurant was really warm and inviting. The watiress helped us pick out a really great and not that expensive bottle of wine. The food was great and the service was great. We had a really nice time. I def will be back. I actually sent my mother there for dinner last week with some of her friends and they really liked it. All in all 5 stars.

  • Pros: Great wine selection and great food
