Editorial Review for Alice's Tea Cup Chapter II – by Kathleen Squires
In Short
Though it serves more than 100 teas along with all the accoutrements--scones, baked goods, and sandwiches ranging from traditional cucumber and watercress to creative combos like cumin-spiced carrots with olive tapanade and goat cheese--this leaf-lovers paradise is not for tea only. The breakfast menu lists eggs and waffles, while pasta and pizza make an appearance at lunch and dinner for a more substantial meal. Still, private tea parties are the most popular draw.

I have sooo enjoyed eating at Alice's, the decor is entertaining; the music is always "on" in the background. It is fun watching the special food come out on the tall trays. Service can be casual when busy. but it gives us the time to enjoy. Staff is incredibly welcoming and warm. The wait is worth the warm chocolate cake. I enjoy the knowledgeable recommendations about the tea. As a single woman, I've enjoyed the tea infused cocktails and meeting my dates there. I have discovered breakfast at Alice's is incredible and there is no wait.
Pros: ambience, food, service with a smile
Cons: waits can be long on weekends

I set up an appointment with a friend of mine at this tea house. I had heard how lovely it was and was looking forward to have their scones. Unfortunately I had to arrive a bit late, and when I arrived there I found my friend siting outside on a nearby stairway. She told me that they wouldn’t sit her without me, even though the house was pretty much empty (it was around 3:00pm in a Thursday afternoon). I a bit annoyed and went inside to ask what was wrong. I met a very furious manager, who got very angry with me for the mere fact that I decided to make a comment about his “rule of the house”. Apparently they do not sit anyone if the party is not complete (it can be a party of 2). I can leave with that, but please, there is absolutely no need to be rude and impolite! Nope, I will never return to this place again! Lame staff!
Pros: Cannot see any
Cons: Horrible Staff
