“It was a Tuesday evening and the atmosphere was great.”
“know some restaurants charge a service fee for every slice of cake, but i know most restaurants are happy to accomodate you for free.”
“There is a nice bar when u walk in to the right.”
“The restaurant was full and it is no wonder because the food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable.”
“Amazing pasta selection and romantic upscale ambience”
“This is such a nice restaurant.”
“Although I had a little difficulty trying to understand our waiter who had this great and wonderful Italian accent, he was very helpful with choosing a great tasting red wine.”
“The restaurant was full and it is no wonder because the food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable.”
“The only bad thing about this place is the service is kinda slow.”
Have to admit, husband was right. My husband has been raving about this restaurant for months. I went to see Jesus Christ Superstar with a friend and made reservations for 5:30. The play ended at 4. Took a chance to see if I could be seated early. Not a problem at all. Food was delicious. I had the seafood ravioli from the specials. Excellent. She had the pumpkin ravioli and said the same. We then ordered dessert. She ordered a souffle and they told her they make it fresh and it would take 20 minutes, was that okay. We weren't in a rush and as the restaurant filled up, they never once made us feel hurried. We were there about 2 hours. I must admit that my husband was right. Great food, reasonable price for Times Square area. Will definitely go back.
Awfull. Terrible wine. first bottle was bad - expensive too (and not just corked) & the 2nd was not much better- they did not ask me how it was - 2009 vintage but tasted like it had been stored improperly ( warm ). I only ordered a young wine hoping it had not gone bad like the first. Had Carpaccio for the appetizer - it was good, after that it went way downhill. My veal medallions were clearly pork & the capers in the sauce were very large, ie...the inexpensive type. My wife's meal was worse, not worth repeating. Chose the location as it was next to the theater where Jersey boys was (fantastic). I should have realized how it might be when I asked a worker at the tavern next door how the food was - they replied, "well it is busy)" They would say no more. The desert was bad as well. Would not go for free !
Wonderful Experience!.
I took my 9 year old daughter to NYC to see her first show. She did very well with the ten hour trip but by the second day it was starting to wear her down. Not thinking before we left for the show I gave her some cold medicine that just made her even more tired.
We had no dinner reservation and figured the first place we saw we would eat. Scarlatto's was the first place we saw. It was noisy but for me it was just apart of the atmosphere. I have never had a quiet dinner with an Italian family!
My daughter was upset that there was no "normal" kid food on the menu. The waiter was just wonderful with her. He had the kitchen make her plain old Mac 'N Cheese. He also did everything to cheer up. He brought her a Shirley Temple and a bowl of ice cream for dessert at no charge.
If we had gone to any other place the meal would of just been horrible to get through but the waiter really made it a great experience for all of us including a very very tired 9 year old.
Diners Beware!.
NEXT!!!
The food is probably on par with The Olive Garden for 10x the price.
We were stuck in the upstairs closet of a dining room which was loud and as hot as an oven.
I have dined quite a lot in New York, and I've never met such rude hostesses and waitstaff (an impressive feat).
I seriously regretted making reservations at this place when i saw some really cute restaurants right next door.
excellent food. Noisy restaurant-we were five ladies-table next to us complained to waiter that we talked too loudly-he asked us to shush-we went to mangr. who said"what do you want me to do?" If we were with men the waiter would never approached us. The waiter should have spoken to the mngr., not us. Stupidly, we gave him a tip. We should have given him nothing(he insulted us, we should have insulted him). Shame on the restaurant!!!Because of how we were treated, we will never return. We were not any more noisy than what it took to be heard.
Closing Soon.
I've lived across from Scarlatto since it opened and must have eaten there dozens of times.
It's an example of a good idea gone really bad over time.
They started out okay, with decent and somewhat overpriced dishes.
However, the kitchen changed, waiters changed, bartenders changed. Not for the better.
Today, the restaurant is pretty much done. I strongly recommend you take your business somewhere worth your hard-earned recession dollars.
Great little Italian restaurant in Theatre district!. My husand and I had the best experience at Scarlatto. The restaurant was packed before a show and the service was exceptional. The food was so good! Thanks for a wonderful night before the Theatre! Try the Tortellini in vodka sauce and the warm apple pie!
Good pasta, Moderate prices for NY.
Eaten there every week for the last four weeks. The service has been good. I've eaten with friends and at the bar but never with a big group. It has reasonable prices for their food. I like the octopus appetizer, in the pastas, the spaghetti meatballs, rigatoni carbonara and the tagliarini with lamb sauce. I also enjoyed the 12 oz steak! Medium rare! and of course the osso bucco.
It is ZAGAAAAAT rated :-)
You Must Try!!!. I have been living in New York for 4 years now and I have been to Scarlatto at least twice a month for the last two years and I have never been disapointed. This is such a nice restaurant. The food is always tasty and well prepared. Try the specials, I love the Lamb Chop and the Branzino. The service is excellent and friendly, you can fell the good energy. The prices are great and the quality always at the top. Everytime we bring friends there they really appreciate the experience and are coming back. I simply love Scarlatto!
