Great Soup!. This is my frist time reviewing, but i would like to say that my experience at the original soup man was excellent. i went to the location on 42st and 5th, after shopping at H&M. there was a fast moving line. I ordered a bowl of chicken barley with a side salad and a tea to go. it was bagged nicely in a lil plastic bag that had their company logo. i took it on the train home into brooklyn, a 45 minute ride, and my soup was still hot! the soup was delicious the bread was nice and fresh, the tea had so much flavor and the workers were very nice. customer service there is perfect. the store was really clean unlike the other restuarants in the area, and they gave me a coupon for $1.00 off a combo meal for my next visit. i will be back!!

Now "Seinfeld"'s soup man wants everyone to try his soup.. The Scene
Though slightly menacing laminated signs direct human traffic to the proper order-taker and cashier, shouts of "No soup for you" are distant re-run memories at this takeout soup stand. A board behind steaming soup terrines announces the day's specials, and an orderly, business-leaning lunch crowd moves quickly through the narrow generic space, choosing among soup, panini and salad.

The Food
The lobster bisque is the Soup Man's specialty--and it's easy to see why from its generous portion of tender lobster meat, complemented by onions, celery and potato swimming in a rich broth. For even more flavor, try the seafood version, teeming with chunks of fresh crab and shrimp. Skimping is not in the restaurant's vocabulary, and hearty soups come in many meat (beef gumbo, chicken chili) and veggie (minestrone, tomato basil) varieties. Though prices are high, every order comes with a large piece of bread, fruit and chocolate.

It's good, but it's not that good.. I ordered the "many bean" soup. It tasted good; however, it is not worth $6.95 per bowl. There are plenty of other good soups available in the neighborhood at a fraction of the cost.
