What People Are Saying About Top of the Rock at General Electric Building

In Short – You'll wish you had eyes on the back of your head for the full-circle views radiating from the 70th story of this New York City landmark. The three-floor experience begins with a glass-ceilinged elevator ride, arriving at indoor observation decks with glass-walled outdoor terraces and then onto the open-air, art deco rooftop with swing-stand binoculars. To combat tourist attraction downsides and preserve the peaceful retreat, a reserved-ticket system keeps lines minimal and admits visitors at intervals.

I recently visiting Top of the Rock after hearing some great things about the views. I have to say that it is magnificent and 100% worth it. Even for someone living in the city, it is amazing to see New York in all its glory.

I wanted to do something different for V-day and i was browsing on the site to see some different options for us to do. This page came up and I was like...BRILLIANT IDEA!! So I took my boyfriend here as a surprise. A Great surprise. It was awesome. Seeing the city like this in full 360 (even in the cold) was totally 100% worth it. I absolutely reccommend the Top of the Rock for locals and for tourists. Really anyone who wants to remember what it is really like to live in New York.
- Pros: New York City like i have never seen it before
- Cons: rockefeller center (ahhh the people!!)
A better experience than Empire State Building observation deck
by porkjello
I was able to see the observation deck for the Empire State Building and the Top of the Rock during my recent visit to NYC. I had a much nicer experience at the Top of the Rock. The elevator ride to the top featured a glass ceiling with projected images of the building's history as you ascend. There's a fun light room sponsored by Target where different lights follow you along the walls as you maneuver your way around the room. The view is breathtaking and you see the beautiful ESB in the distance. At the ESB, you have to wait a long time just to get to the elevators that take you to a waiting floor where you wait even longer before you take another set of elevators to the observation deck. There was not much waiting at the Top of the Rock and the recent rennovations give it an aesthetic edge over the ESB as well.
