Editorial Review for Porky's NYC – by Riva Froymovich

In Short
Class certainly isn't the goal here. With Howard Stern's likeness looking down on bar-top dancers and the mannequin legs strewn about, expect down-and-dirty fun that attracts C-list stars on Celebrity Friday and forlorn college graduates, drinking away weekdays from alcohol-filled fishbowls. In the rear of the cavernous space, parties can score VIP tables with their own interpretation of "bottle service"--a bucket of Coronas or "Alcoholic Viagra" (whiskey), served with nachos or condoms.

Hits: A tad gimmicky to be sure, but that's not always a bad thing--and chances are, you'll be too drunk to care one way or the other.

Misses: Classy it ain't.

All of the reviews on here must be from guys that aren't from NY. First of all, Porkys is the BEST. My girls and I always go there when we need to dance and let loose. It's a college bar atmosphere. Its a young crowd all looking to have fun. The fish bowls are SO strong and well worth it. If you like the typical NY/Staten Island/Jersey Shore/Long Island scene, then you will love it too. The DJ is great! Plays a great mix of Hip Hop and 80's music. I love it!!! Everyone that wrote a bad review about this place needs to just drink a beer and learn how to enjoy themselves.

Pros: FUN! Great Music and atmosphere. GREAT dive bar!

Cons: Trying to make it home after a fishbowl :)

I went here on a Friday night with two of my college friends and it was a trainwreck from the beginning. The place was sooooooo crowded and we were all in college to but we felt so much older than everyone it felt more like a High School party everyone was so immature like they were having their very first drink ever that night or something. The bouncers are very rude like said before my friends and I were all over 21 and the guy still gave us dirty looks about our REAL IDs and almost took one of ours from us. They made us fill out these coupons for a fee bar party which we alll got calls back for saying we won its a hoax there is no raffle they call everyone cause you still have to pay admission and u get a free bar from like 10pm to 11 when most nights they have ladies night at that hour anyway and you dont even get fishbowls with that only small watered down drinks and they kept calling about the parties over and over like they were desperate or something. We all got a fishbowl cause that was the main reason we went and they were so watered down I could drink like 20 and be sobeerr all ice and juice after drinkin all that juice u can drink much more liquid so forget about getting drunk and when u go to relieve all the juice the bathrooms are disgusting. We got into a fight with these drunk people over this large seating area even though there was ample room for more than just them to sit down and upon persistance they realized we just werent budging and stormed off into a temper tantrum like a five year old would which you would excpect since thats the maturity level of te bouncers and everyone else in there. Dont waste your time or money, why pay an entrance fee when ur 21 yrs old to get into a bar theirs free better ones all over. Happy hour is a little better not crowded and if so more mature crowd and 10 dollar fishbowls instead of 25 which is a more reasonable price for buying juice in Manhattan lol.

Pros: Umm nothing but if i really had to say something laughin at all the immature bad dancers there are oh and you can take home the cheap plastic fishbowl and make your own stronger ones at home

Cons: EVERYTHINGGGG read the review
