Midtown Manhattan gets a new flavor in Indian cuisine with Mint. Owner Gary Sikka, who besides being a successful businessman, is a chef with 18 years of culinary experience has created an Indian restaurant that celebrates the food of the North and the South, and presents it in a way that today's dining public relates to. The 110 seat restaurant is decorated brightly with orange, red, and fuscia drum lights snuggled together throughout the long dining room, and painted panels of mint, yellow, and green that hang over striped banquettes. There is a semi-private room complete with audio video…

The Scene – Pools of color wash this Midtown restaurant in a contemporary Indian aura. Magenta and orange drum lamps cover the ceiling, and a mint green glow flushes the walls. The few traditional touches--woven placemats, pillowed banquets and tapestries--barely surface, but it's enough to even out the upbeat energy of streaming Bollywood pop. – – The Food – The regional menu rests in limbo between tradition and the 21st century, with a transitional character that sometimes falters. Overrated.

by gauravpr

I went there for my wife's bday 2 weeks ago. The service was fine but the food was ok. In my opinion Mint is quite overrated on CitySearch. I am not a fan of the dim, green ambiance, but I would discount this as personal choice. Given the ratings, I guess my expectation were set quite high. An excellent Indian restaurant in the neighborhood would be Bukhara Grill on 49th betn 2nd & 3rd (Reserve a table upstairs, its much nicer).

  • Pros: Good service.
  • Cons: Ok food.

Great Food

I bumped into this restaurant and went in for dinner. The food was simply amazing. They also had an amazing wine list. Our server suggested Lamb Chops which came with a green sauce and were delicious.

  • Pros: Excellent Wine List and great food.

A Great Place!

We went to Mint last night and had a really great time. The food was the highlight. There was a cauliflower app that was just delicious. I would suggest you try something in the cashew sauce. It was amazing. The decor is really nice and the service very professional.

  • Pros: Great food, great price, decor
