Okeanos Club Spa Banya

A luxury club, spa and Russian Banya for both men and women.

  • Russian Steam Sauna and Platza
  • Massage, Facial, Barber
  • Wine and Dine In Your Bathrobe

"First Caviar & Vodka, then leggy Slavic Supermodels. Now, the hot Russian import in Manhattan is Okeanos Club Spa. Tucked away on East 51st Street, 'it feels like a swank cruise ship.' --Conde Nast Traveler, 2006

Okeanos brings the best of traditional Russian spa therapies to Manhattan but adds a modern and worldly spin. More than just a spa, Okeanos is a destination where one can de-stress in simple and elegant style. Conceived in the spirit of the Tsars, Okeanos offers Banya, the Russian steam sauna and Platza, the invigorating touch of steam-softened birch leaves on banya-warmed skin (the favorite treatment of the Russian players for the New York Rangers). They also offer massages, facials, body treatments, nails, barber services and a luxurious lounge area with a bar and TVs. Molton Brown & Comfort Zone are among the luxury brands offered in treatments.

Editorial Review for Okeanos Club Spa Banya – by Katie Heffernan

In Short
This masculine spa captures the spirit of Russian bathhouses, where businessmen traditionally did much of their dealing. Encouraged to come with company, clients first unwind in the lounge, which is designed like a sunny cruise ship deck with a vodka- and caviar-packed bar and wavy walls beyond. Masters perform traditional platza treatments (body-brushing with softened birch leaves) in the "banya," or Russian steam sauna. An on-site barber and sports massages round out the kingly offerings.

This is coming from someone who has worked there. They DO NOT wash the blue towels after people use them for showers, sauna, or steam room!! The owner is so cheap that he doesn't think it's important to clean them after every use! SO you could be using someone elses sweaty, dirty towel! Also, they treat their employees with no respect and pay some of them "under the table". Also, DO NOT ORDER SUSHI, THE OWNER CHARGES WAY MORE THAN IT IS ON THE MENU, EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY THE DONT!! BE CAREFUL AND VERY AWARE. ALSO, THERE ARE MICE/RATS EVERYWHERE! The owners don't check the traps regularly and there was a decaying smell which turned out to be a dead small animal with a long tail and big round ears sitting in the cupboard with the plates! there is also a little animal with a long tail and big round ears feces all over the place behind the bar area.

Pros: after your service, you get to leave

Cons: they have unlicensed therapists, dont wash their towels, charge more than they are supposed to for food, etc. check your bill twice!

8-27 - I had a billing error. Unfortunately, the owner was not present when we left the spa. It did take a while, but the owner contacted me directly and apologised for the incident. He was very professional and sincere regarding the matter. We did enjoy the services and would definitely visit the spa again. I say check your bill and ask for the owner if there are any problems. It's a great spa for men and they definitely delivered on their services. My husband loved the facial and massage. Said the steam room was one of the best he ever experienced.

Pros: PROFESSIONAL & COURTEOUS OWNER
