The Scene
Tucked into a townhouse, the bustling restaurant juggles a smartly dressed bar crowd with a dignified group in the comfortable dining room. At peak hours, the volume level in the green-hued space rises dramatically and service can strain under the load.

The Food
The menu makes every one of the regulars feel as if they're dining as a dignified gentleman farmer. The hen-of-the-woods mushroom topped with a poached egg makes a nice introduction to this fresh, countrified fare, as does the tender quail with a savory apple-balsamic dressing. The restaurant inserts a mid-course option, which contains more egg-centric dishes like the homey Eggs in the Hole, an egg sunk into a buttery slice of toast, and the comforting robiola tortellini, a fancy version of Italian wedding soup. Follow up with the cooked-just-right lamb or travel to the sea with the lemony parsley-coated sea scallops. Don't miss the sweetly inventive version of carrot cake.

We had a terrific meal at Telepan. The prix fixe is priced lower than most very high-end restaurants and delivers more for the money than the vast majority of them. In contrast to many similar places, the meal was really well-balanced: the vegetables got real attention rather than being an afterthought, and each course seemed well put together. The pea pancake appetizer and the pork entree were the highlights, but everything we tried was outstanding. I particularly appreciated the option of a cheese course instead of a sweet dessert even on the fixed price menu.

I hate the green color theme of the restaurant, makes it feel very cold and lacks personality. On the other hand, the bread is delicious, and the sommelier (who looks like an elf from lord of the rings), is very enthusiastic with his wine descriptions and knowledgeable. The food is earthy, nothing fancy or nouvelle cuisine-like (eggs and ham for example), but well done and tastes good. It's worth a visit.

Been coming here since the place opened, but this place keeps getting better....menu has some old favorites on it from last season (gnocchi) and some new dishes that are really great (open faced ravioli). LOVE the cauliflower dish, smoked trout is always at the top of my list.....wish there was some lighter food for those of us who come in regularly.....sauces tend to be a bit rich, but soooo tasty none the less. Service is always attentive and friendly, even with the new faces around. Glad to see they are still doing great things three years in - we'll be coming back often.
